He hadn't known what he meant. He only thought they'd lose against the Demon realm, but apparently, that wasn't the case, and after realizing that this 'impending disaster' was actually that light, complex feelings started surging in his heart.
If he don't want to betray his old Mentor - his beloved foster Father - he would follow the instruction of his Mentor before and struck his sword both at the man's heart and abdomen.
At the thought of thoroughly killing the man in front of him, he suddenly felt his senses flickering for a moment. His heart started thumping fast, stomach churning with discomfort, as his eyes began to redden- fierce and bloodshot.
If he kills this man, the bloodline of the Demon clan would finally end.
The Demon King's locations were currently unknown, as what his old Mentor had said when they infiltrated his palace, he had left his son behind- fighting against the human. The monster troops fighting beside the Demon's side had long been wiped out- utterly perished. Gone. The only one remained was the man in front of him, the Demon King's sole heir.
This man was a good fighter. He had nimbly deflected his sharp sword, swiftly and easily counterattacking his attacks. His swordmanship he had always and meticulously honed all over the years ever since he was 8 years old became a mere waste as soon as his sword met his attacks. His hard work, his blood and sweat, instantly looking amateur as soon as he fought this man. Yet in the end, the man still lose against him. Now, Xavier is at advantage. Even if the man could still stand, his legs not broken, Xavier would have easily press him down again and instantly struck his sword at his heart.
As soon as he had done that, the man had finally died. The heir has perished, the entire Demon realm disappeared. There will be no more demons infiltrating the human realm, causing ruckus and destruction to innocent humans. The humans won.
Xavier is a child born after the constellation of Aquila. His parents were unknown, but as soon as he came to be, he had always known that his old Mentor is his only parent. He had used to tell him that he's a very rare child. He was the future hero of the humankind, gifted by the Gods. And perhaps, aside from living as he liked, his only purpose for being born is to defend the human realm.
If Xavier were to strike his sword in the wrong direction, he would've failed his old Mentor. He would fail the expectations of the Gods who gave him life to this world as the Hero. He would be branded as the traitor to the humankind.
Xavier finally raised his sword, the sharp point directed at the back of the man, who was still staring at him with those same dull- yet piercing dark purple eyes. He was neither moving, nor gave him a one last fierce look, just like what he had thrown him back when they were fighting to death.
He closed his eyes shut, and finally dropped his hand down, forcefully thrusting his sword on a hard flesh.
He felt the cold touch of blood splashing to his cheeks. His eyes shot open, as he looked down at his sword that were now stubbornly stuck- and probably would be hard to pull out - from the man's back, right at the position where his heart at. Xavier's eyes widened, his senses flickering again, his heart terribly aching as he watched blood oozing out from the man's pristine snow-white robes.
The man made soft choking sounds, he shivered, blood slowly wetting the cold ground until it became a pool of red.
He suddenly heard his two companions shrieking behind him, "Mentor!"
Xavier slowly turned his head around, saw his old Mentor already collapsed from the hold of his two companions.
His old Mentor had fallen unconscious in relief.
