'I may not do much, but I wouldn't be able to call myself Arthur's trusted mage if I couldn't save the people around him so he can fight without worry,' the old man thought to himself. His loyalty and confidence in his King were steadfast regardless of whatever the Angel would do.
Decorating the sky, thousands of angels flew above to witness their king in such splendid glory. Tears rolled down their faces as they could witness the purest form of light spreading out across the arena.
"Fucking creeps, the lot of them," Moros muttered.
Across the many histories of mankind, they have always been divided. Yet in this one moment, all came together to hold one last prayer. Was the sick twist of irony lost on them? Had they not considered that the gods were the ones who had orchestrated this culling? The answer was simple in nature.
Humanity prayed not to a divine force for their help— they put their prayers towards one man. The hope of all existence on Arthur Pendragon, their greatest king.
Amidst the chants and cries of admiration, Lucifer took a single step forward. Breathing out a murmur that went unheard as the light took an explosive shape around him. He twisted Eveningstar further into the ground, and the light inside the area floor was sucked back up into its core, ready to be expelled in an intense explosion.
'They put their faith in a dying fighter, foolish to say the least...yet still admirable, I have seen clearly the weight he holds on them. Humans truly do come together in times of need, an effective yet dangerous power. Their unity could bring forth greatness, yet I have already seen their rotten cores. One example of peace does not excuse their millenias of sins. They must be rid of, for the greater good of life...'
Lucifer lifted the Eveningstar from the ground, and aimed it towards Arthur. He focused every single bit of power into this one attack and prepared to send forth an eruption of divine might. Bursting out in all directions from the tip of the spear—
"Remove all that stands in your way,【Light that Pierced the World: ARMAGEDDON】"
The sound of shattering stabbed itself into Arthur's ears, before all he could see was a golden-white light. His body would soon be enveloped in a flash, as the arena before him was erased under the searing rays of 'Armageddon'.
The spectators could see nothing. Most mortals had to hide their eyes in pain, only just escaping blindness despite the great distance. Even they were affected from such a great distance away. Some fell to their knees. Others looked to the sky to hide their tears of pain. Would Arthur survive? No, he had to. He was the only one who could now.
"Arthur? NO! IT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE!!!" Merlin shouted out worriedly.
"Calm yourself Merlin. The boy won't be finished so soon..." A voice spoke in his mind, one of tranquillity and peace.
"You are...m'lady of the lake. To think you would appear now...." Merlin uttered in shock.
"You are mistaken, old man," she fondly chuckled, "I have been here since the very day Arthur pulled Caliburn from the ancient stone. I channelled my power in the very sword that the boy wields. Now is the moment he unlocks this power for himself."
The exchange in Merlin's head had lasted no longer than a fraction of a second, yet to Arthur it felt like an eternity. The dome of white energy was moving quickly towards him and he could only jump back so far until the arena ended. His eyes were clamped shut to avoid blindness, though he was seeing through the many insectual eyes of Bael that adorned his armour once more.
'I need to focus every single speck of magic I have into stopping this attack, otherwise it will be completely over. Bael, please maintain the eyes so I know when to attack. We need to bet everything on this.' He spoke in his mind gravely, the realisation of how devastating the attack was going to be dawned on him as he put his mind to circulating all kinds of magic. Through his body, through his heart, through his mind and through Bael.
