Thanks to Jack's well-written request to the head of the FBI, a woman named Tanith Cattaneo has joined his team and will work with them to find the Chesapeake Ripper. Alana shows her concern about bringing her onto the team as she's a rumoured killer. It's clear right away upon first meeting her that Tanith is brilliant and cunning, causing even Alana to watch her in awe.
As a special agent, Jack wants to test her and see how good she is. He doesn't let her read their files on The Ripper, but that doesn't stop her from finding him only after a few days. As Hannibal meets his new investigator, he quickly thinks up a plan to intimidate her and cause her to fear him. However, she's not afraid of him and decides to test him; making sure that she's right in thinking that the Chesapeake Ripper is standing right next to her while looking at his crime scenes.
She's fully aware that she could stop Hannibal in his tracks, but something in her doesn't want him to stop. When the bodies go from looking like a form of intimidation to a unique form of art, Tanith's interest in Hannibal grows and she wants to see just what else he is capable of. Unfortunately for the rest of the team, Tanith doesn't plan on revealing the killer and finds herself wanting to enjoy killing and cannibalizing alongside Hannibal. They all should've listened to Alana from day one as the rumours are correct. Tanith is a serial killer and loves watching Hannibal's creative killing in admiration of her beauty.
