When The Sirens Sound

Lucky only clicked his tongue and lowered his head.

"Thats not fair." Evie stood up from her chair, "Who designed these stupid things?"

She was ignored once again as Lucky moved on, standing up and waltzing away from Pup and Evie.

What were they supposed to do now? Even if they had donations to send in gifts, they might not even make it to their tributes.

The girl gestured for Pup to try again. He seemed reluctant, but pressed select on the water again. And another drone made its way into the arena.
Lamina was ready this time, and leaned out further than before to snag the water before the drone crashed to the floor.

Evie let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Lamina opening the bottle and getting to taste the water. Pup seemed grateful too.

Evie has ventured out of the room for the time being. It was dark and one could barely see into the arena, all one could see was the pack briefly scanning the area for supplies and counting bodies. They had already finished the meals their mentors sent in earlier in the day.

Most of the tribute were probably sleeping by now, so she took this lull in action as her opportunity to look for Sejanus.

Coryo had fallen asleep in his seat, and almost all of the other mentors had left for the night. She figured now was safe enough to leave for a moment. She checked outside of the building, but couldn't bring herself to go too far.

What if something happened to Treech? What is she missed it because she wasn't there?

And she tried to be reasonable. If Sejanus wasn't here, he was most likely at home with his Ma.

She let out a disheartened sigh before turning around and making her way back into the broadcasting room.

Before she could open the door, someone else was opening it. Dr. Gaul was leaving the large room, a satisfied look on her face.

"Ah, Miss Sweet." Dr. Gaul greeted before motioning with her hand for the girl to enter the room, "I believe Mr. Snow has something to talk to you about."

Evie made eye contact with the woman as she walked in, holding her gaze until she couldn't anymore. Coryo was fast approaching as the door shut behind them.

"I need you to come with me."

"Absolutely not."

Coryo's eyebrows furrowed almost immediately.

"It's about—"

"I'm not leaving this room. Treech is still in there and—"

"So is Sejanus."

Evie froze.

"No, he's not." She argued.

"What do you think Dr. Gaul came in here to tell me? She wants me to go in there on a little mission to get him out before one of those tributes kill him and before he is seen by the public. I need you to help me save him."
