He would take a few big breaths in, they did nothing for his survival, but the way the cold air would sift through his metal and between the hard to reach parts, it would sooth him. It felt refreshing and gentle.
Moon and Lunar bath waited patiently for Solar to regain composure, both wondering what could've caused such a reaction from the normally stoic and calm mechanic.
Solar, meanwhile, was trying to figure out how to explain the situation. He didn't trust his voice at the moment, he already felt humiliated he'd just broken like that in front of, not one, but two people - scratch that, three. Earth was in doorway, her newly fixed face was formed in a worried and soft expression.
"Hello... may I enter? I don't wish to intrude on anything I shouldn't." She spoke with her motherly tone, standing politely and quietly.
Solar finally spoke up, taking a breath in as his hoarse voice broke through, his voice cracked at first, causing him to wince and clear his throat.
"Uh, yeah... come- come in." He said as he rubbed at his cheeks and eyes, wiping the tear like substance - what even was it?
Earth would give a small nod as he took her place right beside Solar, not reaching for him, not speaking. Just waiting to see what Solar was in need of.
Solar hesitated, why was his chest still twisting?
"I-... I... apologize... for that. Moon, Lunar. It- I-" he was cut off by Lunar who spoke in an assertive and firm, yet gentle and friendly manner.
"No! No... do not apologize for that. That is something you can't control." Lunar said as he looked up at Solar with an empathetic look, he's had plenty of his own panic and anxiety attacks. He knew just how embarrassing it could feel... but he also knew they aren't to be ashamed of.
Solar opened his mouth to oppose but knew it wasn't worth it. He gave a nod before gripping his striped and patched pants. Worn by years of repairing, renovating and caring for kids in his home world. A bittersweet part of him.
Then, he looked at Earth. She noticed this and sat a little more attentively, straightening her posture in a way to show she was all metaphorical ears. Awaiting what Solar would say.
"Earth-... may... uhm- may I have a hug?..." he asked rather quietly, seemingly nervous and a little embarrassed. He isn't one to ask for physical affection, but he felt in need of it.
Earth practically beamed at this as she nodded and held open her arms, tilting her head to the side to keep her hair to one side.
Solar leaned into her, and Earth was gracious enough to use her fluffy hair as a sort of wall. Shielding Solar from view to try and make him more comfortable.
Moon and Lunar sat patiently, not interrupting or bothering either.
After about five minuets, Lunar, Moon and Earth had fallen into some casual chatter, on the topic of how they should decorate for an upcoming birthday.
"I really don't think we need more pink, Earth.." Moon would said with an exasperated sigh followed by a small chuckle.
"You can never go wrong with pink!" Earth stated proudly as she'd giggle while Lunar was messing with Earth cloud hair, using his small hands to move it apart and peek in as if he'd find something.
Solar was still hidden from view, now having been positioned to lay on Earths lap comfortably. He hasn't moved other than that.
Lunar would part her hair again, meeting a sleeping Solar. He simply stared for a moment... he'd never seen Solar look so peaceful before. He always looks constantly irritated or extremely tired. Earths idle hand on his back, making subtle but comforting circles, was making the scene all the more adorable.
Lunar would then smile, catching the attention of Earth then Moon.
"What's got you smiling, Lunar?" Moon asked as he tilted his head.
"Shh... Solars asleep." He whispered with a smile as he giggled a little.
Earth and Moon seemed a little surprised as Earth would gently move her hair back to her back. And lo and behold, a sleeping Solar lay... so peaceful.
"Awh-" Moon started but cut himself off, feeling that might've been a bit insensitive.
Earth chuckled as she would gently play with Solars rays, which were now miraculously moving. It seems they'd been stuck in place from Solars constant stress and tension. Which would in turn cause his rays to lock up in an alert way.
The four just sat in comforting silence with occasional whisper of conversation.
Soon enough, Sun had found them, wondering where they'd gone so suddenly. Upon seeing them all huddled and comfortable in Solars makeshift room, he couldn't help but smile at the sight. A rare moment of complete peace with the family.
He sighed softly, catching the attention of Moon who seemed to be the only one awake, seeing as he wasn't really one for snuggling or physical contact.
He motioned Sun over, to which the star happily obliged and sat right on the other side of Earth, leaning into her gently and watching Lunar sleep, cuddled against Solars chest while Solar had an arm lazily draped over Lunars torso.
He would yawn gently before sighing and letting himself relax into the calm atmosphere.
Moon observed for a few moment after all were asleep before hr decided this would be the one time he'd allow himself to be soft. Laying down onto Suns lap, he brought his night cap over his eyes and let his hands rest comfortably on his stomach while he crossed his legs and leg a content, small sigh escape his servos.
Soon enough, all were asleep. The celestial family would bask silently in this moment of peace. Something they didn't all get too often.
Of course, Monty snuck some pictures for blackmail. Shhh... don't tell them. 🤫
