Chapter 11 [Give Me Some Time to Blow the Man Down]

Start from the beginning

"Umm, hii?" Legion said hesitantly.

"Whad'ya want?" Jason asked, biting his hot dog in half and chewing on any part that ended up in his mouth.

"So, what are your thoughts on Leonardo's battle against Yaya?" Solomon asked, unbothered by Jason's appearance.

"Hmmm." Jason said, looking upon Yaya destroying the chainswords. "The thing that strikes me is that Leonardo ain't using his weapon well. If he wanted to win easily he could just make a nuke and throw it. I think he's plotting something, and I'm willing to bet Yaya doesn't realise what it is."

Legion stared blankly and confusedly.

Meanwhile, on the arena floor, Da Vinci was using his few seconds of freedom to get as far away from Yaya as possible.

"Utter moron!" Azazel yelled as he materialised behind Leo. "You destroyed your primary weapon just to give your useless self what, ten seconds?"

"I know," Leo explained as he pulled a shining hatchet out of his backpack, "But the setup doesn't matter so long as the punchline is perfecto!" He grinned madly as he caressed its blade

"I know," Leo explained as he pulled a shining hatchet out of his backpack, "But the setup doesn't matter so long as the punchline is perfecto!" He grinned madly as he caressed its blade.

"This punchline of yours better be well-executed then." Azazel declared as he faded back into Leo's backpack.

"Ciao!" The scientist replied.

Leonardo looked down at his weapon and analysed it. To him, analysis was second nature, he was so used to analysing every detail and calculating every arable that it had become automatic. He knew his new tool's weak points, weight distribution, polygonal composition and more just from a glance, and it wouldn't take long to deduce the rest. He turned back to check his opponent, and saw Yaya looming right behind him, club in hand.

Yaya slammed his club into Leonardo's head, and though the inventor managed to dodge the brunt of the attack, he still winced at the sharp pain as one of his teeth flung out of his mouth and cracked as it hit the floor.

"Tu... immane pezzo di merda." Leonardo groaned as he raised his battle axe and aimed for Yaya's head, but Leo was still disoriented, and the hit was sloppy, doing little more than brushing Yaya's cheek. The god scowled in response to the attack, before hurling his club at Leonardo, who used his exoskeleton and axe in tandem to desperately defend himself.

"Why do you keep resisting?" Yaya asked with a mix of confusion and anger.

"Why?" Leo answered, "Because I refuse to let myself die until I return to that place."

"Not good enough." Yaya responded coldly. And with that, he once again swung at Leo, who once again blocked. This exchange continued for several more hits, until Yaya felt the steel toe of Leonardo's boot knock him off balance, giving the inventor another opportunity to land a fleeting cut.

"Hmm," Jason pondered from the stands. "Why isn't that scientist trying to break the stalemate?"

But, in Leonardo's mind, a stalemate was necessary to ensure his victory. He barely dodged another of Yaya's blows, and aimed a hit at Yaya's side, which the god failed to notice in time to defend himself.

"You beast!" The god yelled as he violently threw his club at Leonardo. Surprised at Yaya's new attack, Leo faltered and, though his exoskeleton allowed him to sidestep, Yaya beat the drum and caught the club in midair, swinging it down in an attack that Leo was unable to dodge, adding yet another bruise to his battered body.

As Leonardo was reeling from the pain, Yaya did something strange: He assumed a new stance, put his left hand on his drum, and began to play a masterful symphony.

"You worm." He said with tranquil fury. "I would have given you the same mercy I gave my pathetic excuse for a son had you accepted your fate, but it is too late for that now. May your final thought be of guilt at the fact you failed in every possible way."

"What is that damn god doing?" Crowley asked confusedly. He gestured at his co-host seeking an explanation; but Thoth was just standing there, bolt upright, shivering. Crowley listened in, and heard The god frantically mutter under his mask:

"Please don't do it please don't do it please don't do it."

But Yaya did not care what those weaker than him wanted, he was the unparalleled chief of the Taino, and all who did not respect his authority, especially that sickening human, deserved to perish. He continued his symphony, and dissolved into a crimson blur.

"Hmm..." Solomon hummed. "The God Of Anger Issues is finally using it." His eyes narrowed, ''Let's see how Da Vinci fares against it.''

"Huuuuuh!? What's that worm Yaya using exactly!?" Asked Legion, their face contorted, full of anger.

"His ultimate move," Solomon replied, his casual reaction standing in contrast to terrified Thoth, "An attack which name has been spoken of in fear since... It was first used. They say it's unavoidable, unblockable, unparalleled, an attack that could endanger even Lucifer himself... But masses sure love using big words, I personally, would love to see it for myself and be a judge of it. But what is known for sure, is that it is an attack of such unending brutality the gods could only think of one name to describe it. Hurukan. The Dance of Death."

Leonardo barely had time to think before the attack started, and when it did, it was relentless. Yaya moved in such a way that, combined with his powers, it created a constant assault from every angle. Leonardo felt as if he was being struck in multiple places simultaneously, muscles tearing and bone cracking with every impact of that accursed club, and his manic and relentless axe swinging did little more than make Yaya even more enraged. Yaya had become a hurricane of madness and murder, and Leonardo was at his epicentre, doomed to be swallowed and spat out the other end a corpse.

''Hmph. So that brat is finally taking this seriously... It better remain this way, for his sake.'' Lucifer said to himself in a stern voice.

"Is it even possible for a human to survive this attack?" Jason gasped in shock.

''Lovely~ Truly, Yaya was an excellent pick, as expected of me, fufufu~'' Dionysus chirped, absolutely elated with whole ordeal, ''Buuuuuut~ I have a strong feeling that it's not quite over yet...''

And then, somewhere in between the dozens of strikes and the idle comments of those blessed to not experience this pain, Leonardo was changed. He suddenly felt a feeling he had not experienced in centuries, a feeling he had longed to re-experience, a feeling so intense and powerful it defied description. And when Da Vinci realised what exactly he was experiencing, he could not help but flash back to the last time he had felt like this. He closed his eyes, and was transported back to that day. February 14th, 1498...
