“Why are you telling me this? Where's Yeong-su?”
“He's busy. Besides…” Jungwon stretched the last word, trying to give Jake a hint that he was going to be teased.
“I'm hanging up if what you want to know is about my target.” Jake spoke with a bit of superiority, but Jungwon shrugged it off.
“Your target?” Jungwon teased and Jake didn't bother hanging up because he would miss his younger brother immediately.
Instead, he didn't notice the blush on his cheeks, so faint that it was almost unnoticeable but it was there, all because of Jungwon; or perhaps, his target. He ignored the thought but didn't speak up to Jungwon.“If you're quiet because you're blushing, thinking about your target-”
“Jungwon!” Jake yelled in a whisper, trying not to wake his roommate up.
“Stop proving me right, hyung!” Jungwon laughed.
“You know how's this gonna turn out if Yeong-su comes to know of this shit you've made up?” Jake folds his legs by the edge of the bed and rests a hand on his angle.
“He won't- Why are you even worried about it in the first place?” Jungwon fires back a question rapidly. “You never mind me making up stuff about you and relaying to Dad. Why now? Are you scared?”
Jake hesitated while trying to talk back, but he didn't find relevant arguments, so he simply avoided it. “You know what I mean, Wonie.”
“I don't think so. I bet you might even have kissed him.” Jungwon waited for an outbreak from the other side, snickering.
But when Jake didn't respond, following a soft sight, Jungwon's smile widened. If Jake didn't answer, it meant that he was shy, and that was exactly when Jungwon would usually take his chances to tease his brother.“You kissed him-”
“I had to, okay? He was gonna see my gun!” Jake burst out, overwhelmed like he had never been.
He saw Heeseung stir in front of him and his heart picked up again. He ended the call immediately and slammed the phone down on the mattress, face down. The sleepy body turned to face him and Jake locked his gaze on his face.
Heeseung's face was swollen from napping so hard, and Jake wondered if he had been so sleep deprived, then again, he wasn't as resistant as Jake himself. Jake couldn't stop studying him, not for a second, given the freedom of not being studying in return, no one here to notice. Heeseung's eyelashes, long and thick, fell upon his cheeks and rested there like feathers. His eyes traveled down his nose, to his lips, where they rested.
His lips were the best sculpted of all he had kissed. The subtle shine, owing to the lights in the room, danced on his lips, looking fleshy but yet thinner than Jake's. But never once did the thought interfere with him wanting to kiss the lips he was staring at for so long. The more he stared, the stronger his desire came.
If he didn't see Heeseung's eyes fluttering softly, signaling that he was coming to his senses, he might have jumped on him to steal a kiss. But his stomach was heated and he couldn't bear the thought for another second, so as soon as Heseung's eyes opened somewhat, mouth's forming to call him. ‘Jake’; but he didn't give Heeseung the chance, running to the bathroom and slamming the door so hard that it made the sleepy Heeseung wince.
When Heeseung had started making his surroundings familiar and straightened his back to sit on his bed, Jake's phone buzzed. Heeseung lifted it to see an unknown caller ID. He called out to Jake a few times, shouting as loud as he could. Getting zero response from Jake, he let the phone ring until it stopped.
Then, it rang again. He did the same, called out to Jake to get no response. This time, he slid his finger through the green call button, picking up the call and raising it to his ear. Even before he started to speak, the caller burst like a water balloon.
“Hyung, I'm sorry if I pissed you off.” The voice was young. “But you don't need to be shy about telling me about your kisses, especially this target.”
Heeseung identified it as a tease, referring to Jake. But his cheeks flared unnaturally when the caller mentioned a kiss, and there was little he could do to stop his thoughts about a couple of hours ago. As hard as he tried, he didn't get a chance to speak once.
“Dad said that his father's gonna stay for less than a week, so you should expect a call anytime in the next three days.” There was a pause. “I hope you close this target soon. I miss you.”
Heeseung could tell that whoever that caller was, there was a warmth in the way I spoke and it filled up Heeseung even. He placed the phone as it was, face down on Jake's mattress.
He still couldn't tell what target the caller had mentioned. It might be about getting the highest score or similar, but ‘closing’ wouldn't quite define it. And he had spoken about someone's father. But he felt bad, pondering over thoughts he shouldn't even have.
Thankfully enough, Jake exited the bathroom and Heeseung dropped out of his thoughts.
