"Yes," I sat up straighter so as to focus on what we were supposed to discuss at the moment.
"There have been no clues yet?" Grey asked about the case I had been put in charge of.
"All the patients have been normal so I don't have a suspect in hand." I went into the details of what I had found useful.
"I think they're just laying low for now. Be on the look out." Grey added after going through some files I had brought.
"Also, soon the police are going to get involved so we might get more help from them but in the mean time, dig into every information available."
"I have an hunch that the hospital management team could be involved in this," I shared this with Grey as he flipped through another page.
"I'm thinking of that too. The director did look a bit suspicious but I'm told that he's reliable." Grey held my eye as he added.
"But make sure you don't express your doubt. Just follow everything he says for now." I hummed in reply.
We went through several other associated cases for half an hour and his wife brought us coffee when we were almost done.
She joined us a while later but Grey's attention diverted so I wrapped up the discussion for another day.
I stayed in their company an hour more, with them asking about my family and how everyone was.
It was also during that time when I happened to get a message from Orion. He was asking whether I was free and I asked him why.
He then mentioned that he wouldn't manage to drop Lily for her night shift and I held back from responding immediately.
Orion again asked me to do him this favor if I was free and I almost replied with an of course but I deleted it right away.
It made me look excited, which in fact I was, but I knew Orion wouldn't appreciate the thoughts I was having about his sister.
I eventually replied with a simple okay and taking my eyes off the phone where I'd been glued for the past minute, I almost missed Grey's suggestive glance.
He looked at me and then at the phone before he exchanged another look with his wife.
"I guess you have somewhere to be," Grey asked first while stretching his arms.
I nodded and then stood up, thanking them for having me for half a day.
"We're family, of course." Grey patted my back in a brotherly way and I felt grateful to him.
"Our home is always open for you," his wife encouraged me to come again soon and I promised to.
Grey walked me out and as we approached my car, he stopped me.
"I noticed something weird," he held my eye before continuing, "you searched about butterflies again."
I couldn't look at him in the eye after that. My neck flushed as I looked over the top of my car.
"Remember to use your personal account when searching for these things, Reece will snoop through."
He patted my back again as I shuffled on my feet. Had it not for Reece marrying recently, he'd be the first to know.
"I'll be expecting to hear from you soon." From his smirk, I knew he wasn't talking about work.
I drove away soon after and as I approached her house, I remembered Orion mentioning that Lily loved glucose biscuits so I stopped by a convenient store to get some.
