Walking through the town, I'm glad to see that things are slowly starting to come back to normal. Ever since the attack, the pack has been tense, but today; people are getting back to work, some even laughing and smiling engaging in friendly chitchat and not speaking about the incident. As future beta in command, it's such a relief to know that your pack is going to be fine. The sun is starting to set, and the wind is blowing harder. Nathan.

- Hey love, how are you? – I ask through the mate bond. Almost immediately I get a response.

- Hi, I'm fine, but I miss you terribly. – he responds.

- I miss you too, love. How did things go with Maya? – I wonder.

- Everything ran smoothly, just like you said. – he briefly explained.

- That's great news. So, your parents were on board with everything? –

- Are you kidding me? They couldn't be happier, they even said that it's a privilege to help. I'm starting to think they like Maya more than me. – he jokes, making me laugh internally. - I can't wait to see you, I missed you like crazy today. Seriously, I hope you're prepared because we have a long session of cuddles scheduled for tonight. I'm not letting you go once I get my arms around you. –

- I'm looking forward to it. – I chuckle. – Maybe we can even turn it into a make-out session too. – I flirt. I can feel Nathan blush through the bond. – Well, at least I can still make my boy blush. – I joke.

- Shut up. – he says playfully. – So, listen, I'm staying behind for a little while. – he said somewhat shily.

- Oh. – I responded confused and a little disappointed. – Everything all right? –

- Yes, everything is okay, don't worry. Just doing some research, it shouldn't take me long. – he assured me.

Research? The school year is just about to end in less than a month, I thought he was finished with deliveries. Maybe Mr. Harrison left some extra homework or something and he's just trying to get ahead. I know I shouldn't feel like this, he's just being a good student, but still, he's my mate and I miss him a lot.

- Okay. Well, do you want me to come for you? – I ask. Not a fan of the idea of my mate coming home alone.

- No, there's no need. I don't want to trouble you. –

- Love, you're never trouble to me. – I said matter of fact.

- Still, I can find my way back. – he insisted. My wolf reproached but I'll respect his wishes. – I appreciate the gesture, though.

- I'm here if you need anything. Seriously, if you catch a scent, hear something, feel like someone's watching, or anything at all that might indicate someone is following you, you tell me, and I'll have the pack there in no time. – I say very seriously.

- I love you much. – he chuckled. – I should get going, the sooner I start the sooner I'll get home. –

- Okay, I'll go see Maya. I want to make sure Luke doesn't try to kill Jake. – I explain.

Sadly, it looks like it'll be a little longer until Nathan comes home. Maya and Jake must be on their way here. I should probably find Nymeria; she'll want to meet the guy. Just as I think that I see her standing next to Gregory and Larisa. Good, that wasn't as hard as I thought. I take a deep breath to relax and walk up to them.
