Shelby crossed her arms across her chest, clearly waiting for her to fill her in.
"And that reason is..." She trailed off, and Juliette nodded. Right. She shouldn't keep her information a secret, even if it was possibly the best day of her life because for once she was the most informed person in the room.
She couldn't say she was the smartest, that would be an outright lie and borderline disrespectful to Shelby's intelligence.
"Because Danielle's parents are in town to meet Caleb, and they came to mass today." She said, speaking as if it was common knowledge, something that she'd wanted to do to someone for years... Like, she used to be condescending about church stuff, but this was life stuff, this was a once in a lifetime thing for her.
Shelby furrowed her brows, frowning as she straightened out the napkins and stacked up the cups to put next to the coffee container once Juliette finished filling it.
Probably should start that... She opened the top, letting out a breath of relief that it was clean. Sometimes people forgot, and there was nothing worse than the smell of week-old coffee.
"They didn't already meet him?" She asked, and Juliette shook her head, sighing.
Honestly, it was fair of her to wonder that because Juliette also thought they'd fly in sooner, but it made sense why they'd had to wait - there had been a snafu with their passports, this was the earliest they could've gotten here... She hoped to God that they'd love her little brother as much as she did.
Her dad was on her own, she wasn't hoping to shit for that man, he was old enough to figure it out for himself.
"No, they had to get their passports renewed or something." Shelby just looked more confused... Did I forget to mention that? "Danielle's Canadian, I swear to God you knew that." Shelby frowned, shaking her head as she did... Well... Juliette wasn't that shocked, she did have a high margin for error in her communication, that wasn't news to Shelby.
"If you told me, I forgot." Shelby gestured to her brain, making a clockwise movement with her hand before dropping it with a sigh. Okay... Either you're crazy or I am not understanding what the other meaning of that hand movement could be. My money is honest to God on either one. "Got a lot going on up there." Juliette nodded. Okay, so it hadn't been what she thought, but it was still something in her mind.
"True." Juliette felt someone bump into her and gasped, turning around to see Becky holding the boxes of donuts. Right. Right, you're here too. She gripped her chest, hanging her head as she let out a sigh of relief. "Shit, Becks... You scared the hell out of me." She breathed, and Becky chuckled, raising an eyebrow as she set down the boxes.
"Sorry, I just... Figured we can't have coffee and donuts without donuts." That was a good point, Juliette had just forgotten that it was her that had gone to get them, she'd forgotten that they had to be got at all, honestly.
"True, true." Juliette glanced down at Becky's neck and grimaced, moving some of her hair out of the way before she smacked her hand away... It wasn't like she was trying to do something creepy, she was just noticing that the concealer that had been used to cover the many marks that Becky seemed to have was the wrong tone.
It was a rookie mistake, one that she had thankfully never seen Becky make before, and she hoped she'd never see again... But having to see it today, here, was bad enough.
"What?" She asked, looking confused. Juliette leaned closer to her ear as she cleared her throat, resting her hand on Becky's waist.
"If you're gonna cover those with concealer, at least get the right shade and blend it out... You look speckled right now." She murmured, and Becky stiffened, letting out a groan as she covered her face with her hands, letting them slide down her face as she looked up at Juliette.
