"Hey, guys! Sorry natagalan." Maelle got his usual warm smile.
My eyes automatically scanned her from top to bottom.
Black tube cropped top, denim mini skirt, long black boots, and Gentle Monster glasses at the top of her head. She was wearing make-up, too—not to mention the bright red lipstick.
Kusang pumaling ang ulo ko sa naisip. Lumunok ako at napapikit.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
"Nasaan si Chel?"
"Nagpaiwan muna sa loob. She's going to the pool in five minutes. I think she's not feeling well." Unti-unting bumaling ang tingin niya sa akin kaya't sinalubong ko naman ito. "Oh... you're... here?"
Nakaawang ang labi niya at mukhang inaaral ang kabuuan ko. I felt a legit shiver on my whole body for I don't know the reason is!
"Derwick said you're not coming..."
My jaw hardened.
"I thought you have a work?"
"My..." I cleared my throat. "My client called it off for the weekend."
Napapikit ulit ako.
Now... I am lying? Seriously?
"That's great."
Yeah, great. But not for me.
"Wow, look at that. We're complete!" Humalakhak si Derwick. "Come on, guys! Help yourselves! Go grab some drinks! Everything's on me!"
"Galante!" Maelle commented.
"You sure?" Hwang asked. "The drinks are a bit... on that price. I mean, almost everything is."
"Tss! Money problems... do I look like I have one? Just enjoy! Akong bahala!"
"I'll come back for the drinks. Pupunta muna ako sa pool." Paalam ni June bago umalis. "Have fun, guys!"
"Sure! You, too!"
I tried to pull myself together for the next long-ass hours of my life. Hindi ko alam kung anong problema sa akin. I feel... awkwardly hot... and... I just...
I don't know!
"I'm gonna..." I licked my lips. "I'm gonna go get a drink."
"I'll come with you." Malakas ang naging singhap ko nang si Maelle ang sumagot.
My lips thinned.
"Suit yourself."
Our table was in the middle so I had to walk a bit longer to reach the bar. Pagdating doon, agad kong hinanap ang bartender.
"Single Malt Scotch Whisky..." That's the first drink I have in my mind, although I don't have any plans for drinking.
"Bacardi 8 for me." Pahabol ni Maelle.
The bartender nodded. "Coming right up!"
Taka akong napatingin sa kaniya.
Did she just say... Bacardi?
Prenteng naupo si Maelle sa stool at pinatong ang kamay sa surface ng bar. She then repeatedly rotated her seat halfway while waiting for our drinks.
Naupo na rin ako.
"Rum for first drink?" I opened the conversation.
"That's my fave." She said in a serious tone. "You? Whisky for first drink?"
"That's my only drink tonight."
"Oh..." Napatango siya. "Great choice. Classic."
Our drinks came right after that.
