When Our Paths Crossed

Chapter 25

"You look so gorgeous Miss Davis.

"Thank you. I'll take this one." I said smiling.

As I put my shoes on my phone starts ringing, I reach for my bag and take it out. It's Elena.

"Hey Em."

"Hey."

"What are you doing right now?"

"I'm actually at the mall, I finally found a dress."

"Oh that's great, you have to show me later. Do you want to get dinner with me."

"Yeah, I'm starving ."

"Okay I'm waiting for you at Lar Mer."

"Okay see you there."

After a few hours, I got there, and the host led me to the table. As soon as Elena saw me she got up.

"Heyy, I said hugging her, sorry I made you wait."

"It's okay I ordered your favorite."

"Thanks, I spent the whole day looking for dresses I'm famished" I said taking a seat.

"It's been a while"

"Yeah it has."

"I don't want to make you feel awkward or anything. I know things are complicated between you and my brother. I just wish you wouldn't push me away. You my best friend. " She said placing her hand over mine.

"I'm so sorry, it's just a bad habit of mine that I need to stop. Whatever happens between me and your brother will never ruin our relationship." I said placing my hand over hers.

"I'm really sorry for making you feel that way."

"I missed you. You need to call me more. I know you suck at texting." She said laughing.

"I really do, but I'll work on it, I promise. 

The waiter placed our food on the table. And it looked so scrumptious.

"You coming to the opening right?"

"Of course, I wouldn't miss it."

"Do you want to get ready together?"

"Yeah we could have a sleepover at your place."

"Yeah, it's been a while since you slept over."

Elena's POV

After dinner, we drove to Nicks place. I told Emily that she doesn't have to come along, but she insisted.

I told my driver that I'll ride with Emily and that he could go while we ate.

"Are you waiting outside?" I asked stepping out of the car.

"No, I'm going in with you."

"You are?"

"Yes, now let's go Lena." She said holding
my hand.

As I'm packing my clothes my phone pings.

* Reed Stone is back in town *

I lock my phone, his finally back.

"What are daydreaming about with that smile on you face."  

"Did I ever tell you about Nicks best friend?"

"No." She said sitting up.

"His name is Reed Stone, I've known him since I was young."

"I've heard of him. Isn't he the CEO of Stonewall Corporation?"

"Yeah, how did you know?" I asked surprised.

"Who doesn't know Reed Elena? I've never met him though."

"Let's get out of here before Nick comes back." I said pulling my suitcase to door with my dress in the other hand.

"I just need to tell Nick I'm sleeping over at your place." I said as we walked down the stairs.

"Can I have some water before we go."

"Sure."

I left my suitcase by the door and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge.

Emily took a seat.

I passed the water bottle to her.

"Thank you, I just got so thirsty." She said opening the water bottle.

Nick walked in.

"I was about to call you." I said walking around the island to where he was standing.

He had his eyes on Emily.

"I'm sleeping over at Emily's. We are getting ready together for the opening."

"Oh okay." He said with his eyes still on Emily.

Emily turned around. "Hey Nick."

"Hey Emily, it's good to see you."

They were staring at each other without saying a word.

"Okay, I think we need to go." I said grabbing Emily's hand.

Thing's were getting to intense for my liking.
