When Our Paths Crossed

Chapter 26

"Are you ready?" Nicholas asked whispering into my ear. "Yeah, but I feel like I'm about to throw up."

"You can do it Emily, do you want me to go up there with you?"

"Really, you would do that for me?"

"Of course."

"Okay, come up with me."

It went silent as soon as I stood on the podium. Nick was standing behind me.

"Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the grand opening of KD Luxury Suites. It is with immense gratitude that I stand before you today to celebrate this momentous occasion."

"This hotel is a dream come true, made possible by the dedication, hard work, and talent of countless individuals."

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to our architects, engineers, builders, and designers who have poured their hearts and souls into this project. Your expertise and creativity have brought this vision to life."

"KD Luxury Suites offers a unique and unforgettable experience for our guests. From our luxurious accommodations to our world-class amenities, we have strived to create a haven of comfort and relaxation."

"Our commitment to exceptional service and attention to detail sets us apart."

"We believe that KD Luxury Suites will not only be a destination for travelers but also a valuable asset to this community. By attracting visitors and stimulating local businesses, we hope to contribute positively to the economic growth and development of this area."

"Once again, thank you to everyone who has made this day possible."

"I want to specifically thank Mr Kade because without him, this wouldn't have happened."  I said looking at him.

"Thank you."

The room erupted in applause.

Nick helped me down the podium.

"That was fantastic Emily, how long did it take you to write that speech?" Before I could answer, Elena threw her hands around my neck and pulled me towards her.

"I'm so proud of you Emily, you killed it. I told you there was no reason to be nervous. "

"Thank you." I said hugging her back.

Drinks were being served, Nick took two glasses from the waiter and handed it to me and Elena.

Nick stood at the podium and rapped his glass with a fork to get the audience's attention. 

"I invite you all to join me in raising a glass to the success of KD Luxury Suites and to a bright future ahead."

Everyone raised the glasses

Our eyes locked, and I smiled at him and raised my glass.

A tour of the hotel was given to the guests. After a while, food was served, and the hotel was buzzing with people socializing and music playing.

I spoke to a few people.

The opening was a success, now I can finally breathe.

I walked to the table that was full of food.

Damn I'm starving. While I was placing food on my plate, I felt someone behind me.

"Emily Davis?"

I turned around. "Sebastian Foster!" I said shocked.

Nicholas POV

"It was good to see you, Mr. Quinn." I said walking away. I lost sight of Emily. There are so many people here, and she's so short, it's easy to lose sight of her."

I looked around for a while and spotted Elena sitting alone at a table. And of course, she was stuffing her face with food.

"Have you seen Emily?" I asked sitting next to her. "Last time I saw her, she was getting food."

"Nick, wait for me to finish this piece, then we can look for her together."Elena said with food in her mouth, making me look away in disgust.

We looked everywhere for Emily, but we still couldn't find her. Elena grabbed my arm. "Nicholas, I need you to stay calm. Turn around slowly and don't you dare walk over there."

"What do you mean?" I asked turning around.

Sebastian and Emily were standing at the balcony facing each other.

"Why is she laughing? There's nothing funny about that dick head."
