8. Who doesn't risk doesn't win.

Start from the beginning

"Send her our regards!" — I heard his mother again.

— Well, you heard it Nora, I think they miss you too. — she told me smiling.

I laughed. — So do I, send them a greeting back. — I asked her.

— I'll tell them. Well, it's time for me to go. — she told me, taking her phone as she approached her bed. — It's time to sleep for me.

— All right, sweet dreams, Grace. — I wished her.

— Thanks, Nora. Oh! One more thing. — I saw her tuck herself into her bed. — Darling, I know when you don't tell me something too. — she mentioned looking at me through the screen. — But I know you'll tell me when you're ready, and I just want to remind you that I'm here if you need me, no matter if you killed someone or shit your pants. I will be there. — she reassured me.

It's true, Grace had known me for years, it was obvious that she would find out that I didn't call her just to say "Hello." But I also knew I needed my space, so I was grateful that she reminded me that she would be there for me if I needed it.

I missed her and I'm sure she could have helped me with my dilemma, but I didn't want to bother her. I didn't really want to bother anyone.

I laughed again. — I know. — I took a short sigh. — I love you so much.

— I love you too, Nora, we will see each other soon.

Then the call ended.

I couldn't keep thinking about it, well, I didn't want to keep thinking about it. So, I grabbed my phone, my Taylor Swift tote bag and went for a walk.

As I exited the lobby, I found myself in the midday chill and shivered in the wind as it enveloped me. I soon realized that I had only gone out in a blouse and jeans, my impulsive actions had made me forget my sweater. So, somewhat embarrassed, I ran back to my room to put on my white sweater and head back out into the world.

As I walked, I noticed that there were more people than usual. Well, it was normal, after all, it was Halloween month, and I figured everyone would be getting costumes for their kids or themselves.

I also noticed that there were already some places with Halloween decorations, there were skulls and pumpkins everywhere. I liked the city adopting this new spooky and at the same time so childish air, as the children were having more fun these days, showing off their costumes, playing masked pranks, waiting for the day when they would go trick-or-treating from door to door.

I couldn't help but smile seeing the city so active, I was glad that everyone was motivated to get decorations for the end of October. There was still the whole month left, but it was obvious that everything would soon sell out if you didn't hurry up to do your shopping in advance.

Then I stopped dead in my tracks, I had been thinking for so long about how happy it made me to see people getting their Halloween costume that I forgot I didn't have mine.

Well, I had one of the Slytherin house school uniform, but I didn't want to wear it since I had worn it last year, what was I going to wear now with less than a month to Halloween?

I started checking my phone as I walked through the streets, which I knew was wrong for many reasons, but I continued to do so anyway, I had to get something and fast.

I soon found myself looking for a specific one, until I realized it was in my history.

—Huh? — I thought out loud.
