Josh knew something was up with Tyler. When they met up for a late lunch to decide what time to drive back, he seemed closed off, like he was hiding something. He didn't want to bring it up though, he knows how awkward and weird it feels to be asked if everything is alright everyday. Thanks, mom. But he still wanted Tyler to know he was there for him, so before they left Josh bought Tyler a present. He was going to give it to him, but his birthday was coming up soon so he decided to wait.

Tyler knew it wasn't the smartest idea to drive at night, the last time he did was when he thought of that lyric before and he didn't want to deal with that again, and also after last night too, he was a mess.
Tyler was about half-way through the drive and the sun had finally made the hills its grave. The road wasn't completely crowded but it wasn't empty either. But once the night came, Blurryface buckled into the passenger seat.
Look at all the cars.
Look at all the trees.
"Stop distracting me." Tyler said as he tried to focus on the road.
Hey look.
Up ahead.
What is it?
"No." Tyler said, as he gripped the steering wheel tighter.
A pole?
Remember last time?
You didn't crash into it.
Now's yOUrc hAnCE.
Tyler looked around for something, anything to keep Blurryface quiet, but there was nothing inside this car to help him.
It's getting closer.
Come on, Tyler.
What's the point of living?
You're so worthless.
You're nothing.
NoTHing.
NOthING.NOTHING.
Tyler began to cry. He hadn't cried like that in a long time, it's usually just soft tears, but he was full on sobbing. His vision began to blur and he had to pull over. Tyler pulled over to the side near the forest and just cried into the steering wheel.
"I'm worthless."
"I'm nothing.""No one cares about me."
He heard a knock at his passenger door.
"Tyler, come on! Open up!"
It was Josh.

Josh was pretty okay with driving at night. Sometimes in high school when his room and ceiling became too much for him, he'd sneak out and drive around to clear his mind and it'd work most of the time. Josh was too busy thinking about Tyler for his demanding voice to over power him right now. He just wished Tyler was open to talking about his struggles because Josh has his own similar struggles and he wanted everything to help his best friend. That's why he got him that present. It was a new journal with their home state Ohio on it.
After a quick stop at a gas station, Josh got on the road again after three hours of driving. He bought some Red Bulls to get him through the rest of the drive. He didn't really like energy drinks because of how it feels mixed with his anxiety but he needed to stay awake.
