All the parents eyes turned to me, I paid no attention, just stared up at the ceiling.
"...How are we going to get that?"
Aiden's dad sat up right. Logan's granddad tapped his finger against his leg anxiously, but stood up with a sigh.
"...we might be able to take care of it. I'll make a few phone calls. Where was the bag dropped off for the kids?"
"How are you going to get sedatives?"
Ashlyn's dad asked in confusing.
"That doesn't really matter. As long as they are acquired, the tree situation can be resolved, right?"
"...I'll send you a screenshot of the location."
Logan's grandad left the room while his grandmother spoke,
"While he does that, we need to figure out how to get the kids safe from the "centipede-ish" monster."
"I think I might have an idea."
My dad spoke up, he told he about turning on the football field lights to scare away the monsters. Everyone decided to calm down and figure stuff out on their own, the parents left the room while Ashlyn pulled her phone out to run the plan by Tyler.
"That's the plan?"
Tyler asked, a breathing mask hung from out of frame and connected to his nose.
"Yeah for now."
Ashlyn held the phone so everyone could be seen.
"And you're sure the power will work?"
"...in theory. I mean, the generator for the graveyard works, so it should too."
Logan told the boy on FaceTime.
"What do you think?"
I asked Tyler, his face filled with exhaustion.
"...well I guess it's the only real plan we have right now so it's worth a shot. I still think you should just leave me behind first, I've already died once, what's the worst that can happen?"
"And I said we aren't going to do that!"
Ashlyn yelled back at him, angry he even thought about it in the first place.
"We don't know what the phantoms are trying to do and I don't think it's as simple as them trying to kill us. We aren't going to risk anything until we know more information. Not to mention to stroke from shock could've killed you."
Tyler groaned on the other end and turned the phone from his face.
"Fine, fine, whatever. Stop yelling. Anyways, none of you have slept yet, so stop talking to me and try to get some rest before midnight."
"Alright..."
"He's right trooper..."
Ashlyn's dad walked into the room and rubbed her head.
"You kids need sleep. I brought some melatonin gummies if you need them. We'll stay awake so if anything happens we'll be here when you wake up."
"...thanks dad."
"No problem, kiddo!"
We all decided to sleep near each other for protection, I laid on the end near Ashlyn, not catching a wink of sleep.
The only thing that could be heard is Taylor crying, the parents talking in the other room and an occasional shuffle here and there.
My thoughts were so focused on Tyler, he had a tree impaled through him yet he still wants us to focus on ourselves. A small ding was heard from my phone, I reached over and grabbed it looking at the message.
Tyler
Stay safe out there, focus on yourself before you focus on me. Sleep tight <3I smiled at the glowing screen in front of me, I clicked off my phone and placed it down. It's now time to go get Tyler and get out of here.
