"I couldn't wait to see Olly," I didn't miss the way her eyes brightened as she mentioned her boyfriend.
She had travelled from a town four hundred miles away to surprise her man for their second year anniversary.
At times like this, I was envious of their relationship. Their love and care for each other was so evident.
I helped her bring in the bag as I asked her how she'd been doing, briefly mentioning a few things about Oliver.
I didn't want to spoil anything since I was in the middle of their planning.
While I was supposed to help Hazel prepare her surprise for Oliver, Oliver had also asked me to help him plan something for her.
He didn't know she had come to visit so I had a hard time keeping my lips sealed to both parties.
I served Hazel some coffee and let her rest for an hour before we dived into laying out the plan for the evening.
Hazel's goal was to make a small picnic spot at beach and recreate their first date.
Oliver's goal was to travel to Hazel's hometown and propose marriage to her.
The good thing was that their plans weren't meant for the same day since Hazel had come a day earlier.
At least I didn't have I fret over what to do but since I couldn't coordinate them both at the same time, I had to ask Enzo for some assistance.
He was supposed to keep Oliver occupied for the day until the time I gave him the signal.
It wasn't a hard task since they were both at the hospital. I knew their shift ended in two hours so Hazel and I had to rush in setting up everything.
For convenience, we ordered an Uber for the evening though we ended up making so many stops to pick up the items Hazel had 'forgotten'.
She didn't have to buy all that. I wanted to assure her that Oliver wouldn't mind if any of those were missing but I guess I couldn't clearly understand what she had in heart.
So we roamed around different stores until she was content with everything. Settling down was yet another task since she wasn't comfortable with any of the places so far.
"Is this a better spot?" Hazel asked for the sixth time as she looked around the area we were standing on.
My hands were beginning to ache because of the heavy bags I was carrying but I couldn't let her see that.
"I think it's better suited. It's not that crowded here so you'll have a bit of privacy."
She looked around again and then agreed and I dropped the bags on the sand.
I helped her set up the shawl and snacks we'd bought on our way here while texting Enzo to know how far away they were.
He told me that they were now leaving the hospital so it would take at most thirty minutes to get here.
One thing I was curious about was how Lorenzo had managed to convince Oliver to come with him here.
I didn't picture them agreeing to come here together, knowing how far apart their personalities were. I could only wait to hear from him when he came.
Hazel ruffled through the almost empty bags to make sure that her presents were intact and I could only smile as I thought of what Oliver was planning.
At a time like this tomorrow, she was probably going to have a ring on a middle finger with the biggest smile on her face.
Oh love. How I craved to have a taste of what they had.
"Is Olly almost here?" Hazel asked again while retouching her sunscreen.
