Chapter 7

"Come on, I thought you're in a hurry?" she said making me move from my spot.

Her apartment was a twenty-minute drive away from my village but Colet made it ten minutes away, which I'm glad of because we arrived first before my Dad and especially, because we are still alive. I finally let my breath out, when she stopped in front of our gate, I wasn't aware that I was holding my breath throughout the whole ride. I hastily remove my seat belt and look at her, but my normal stare turns into a glare.

"What?" she asked.

"Will you please put on your seat belt?!" my voice came out harsh which made her round eyes wider.

"O-okay. Here, all done," she said and in a swift move her seat belt was on. I threw her one more glare before rummaging inside my clutch.

"Here, call me when you reach your apartment," I said and gave her my office's calling card. I don't have mine because I am not keen on giving away my personal number to anyone, aside from the people who are close to me. She nodded her head like a little kid. I grabbed the door handle and pushed it open.

"Call me or I'll kill you. You choose. Okay?" I said one more time before closing the door of her car and I swear I saw her gulping. I wave my hand and turn my heels before heading inside. I looked back and saw her car going away. I sighed and entered the gate, the guard greeted me but I didn't say anything and made my move faster. After a freaking long walk, this house is big and has a wide landscape, geez, I open the front door and was about to go upstairs to my room when a voice called me.

"Jhoanna Christine!" I halted and turned around seeing Mikhs with her hand on her hips and Ate Aiah who was eating, as usual. I smiled and awkwardly waved my hand at them.

"Hi..?" I said unsure. She looked at me like she couldn't believe what I just said when we heard a car approaching. Mikhs' eyes widened and mine too when I realized that it was my father.

"RUN!" the three of us said altogether and ran upstairs and to my bedroom, I pushed the door open and we almost stumbled on our feet.

"Oh, my chips," Ate Aiah said while clutching the bag of chips against her chest. I rolled my eyes and shifted my gaze at Mikhs. She was breathing deeply and her palms were on her knees.

"Tell me why you have this big house?" she said and glanced at me.

"Because we used to be a complete family." I shrugged and sat on my bed after I locked my
door.

"Yah, even if you're still complete, there's only three of you. And this house could fit the whole population of Philippines," she said and threw herself on my bean bag. Ate Aiah settled herself on my carpeted floor, don't ask me why.

"You're exaggerating things again. This house has only six bedrooms--"

"Eight, don't forget your room and Uncle's." she butt in.

"I'm not done yet, six bedrooms and two master Bedrooms."

"Yeah, a library, mini office, entertainment room and minibar. Oh, you have a mini gym too and an indoor pool. And don't forget about the maid quarters." she said.

"Fine, this house is freaking big, and empty." I sighed and lay on my soft bed, I missed my bed even if it was only a night.

"Why are we talking about your house? Anyways, where were you?" Mikhs said and stood in front of me. I open my eyes and look at her.

"I was with a friend," I said, not really in the mood to tell them about Colet. They won't stop bugging me.

"Sheena said that she wasn't with you. Why did she lie?"
