Without missing a beat, DJ grabbed his favorite Jianbing from the fridge and popped it into the microwave. As it hummed to life, she glanced over at MK with a soft smile.
"Hey, kiddo, you doing alright? You look a little tired." DJ says in a slightly concerned tone.
MK blinked and snapped out of his daze, managing a tired grin.
"Hm? Oh, I'm fine. Today was actually pretty awesome. After Caihong and I finished delivering the noodles, we headed over to Sandy's houseboat and spent the day painting it." MK says with a small smile.
DJ couldn't help but notice the slight blush that crept up MK's cheeks as he mentioned Caihong. She grinned, her teasing nature kicking in.
"Sounds like a blast, especially since you got to spend the day with Caihong, huh?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him, adding a little extra tease to her tone.
MK's face turned a deep shade of red, and he started to stammer, trying to find his words.
"H-Hey! It's not like that!" he managed to stutter out in defense.
DJ chuckled, clearly enjoying the moment.
"I'm just saying, you looked pretty happy when you walked in. Must've had a really great time, with her huh?" DJ continues, trying to get more of a reaction from him.
MK waved his hands in a flustered manner, his blush intensifying.
"Quit it already! We just painted the boat, okay? And maybe each other... and, okay, there might have been a paint war, but that's besides the point!" MK says as he tried to calm down his blush.
DJ took the now-warm Jianbing out of the microwave and handed it to MK along with a fork.
"Thanks." MK muttered before diving into the food like he hadn't eaten in days.
DJ watched in mild concern as he wolfed it down.
"Whoa there, slow down, MK, or you'll end up choking," DJ warned with a small chuckle.
MK reluctantly slowed his pace, taking a breath between bites.
"But seriously. Nothing happened, Honest!" MK says as his blush flares up a little.
"I beg to differ. Something definitely happened today, now spill." DJ pried some more.
MK sighs at this, knowing DJ wasn't gonna give up till he told her what's up.
"I guess if you must know, Caihong asked me if I wanted to go bowling with her on Saturday, after training with Monkey King." MK admits as he chews on his food.
DJ's eyebrows shot up in surprise, and a mischievous grin spread across her face.
"Oh, so you're going on a date, huh?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
MK almost choked on his food, his face turning crimson as he scrambled to correct her.
"W-WHAT?! NO! It's not a date! Why do you have to make everything so embarrassing?!" MK exclaims in a flustered tone, his cheeks burning hot.
DJ laughed, reaching over to ruffle his hair playfully. MK whines at this action and swats her hand away.
"I'm your big sister, it's my job to embarrass you. But still, I never thought I'd see the day my baby bro would be going on his first date." DJ replied in a "matter of a fact" tone.
"It's not a date!" MK insisted, his voice tinged with frustration. "We're just hanging out! Plus, she's like four years older than me and in her twenties! I'm only 16, and puberty is still working its evil magic on me. What chance do I even have when the guys she likes are all big and muscly?"
