Why Me? (Older Hiccup and Reader)

Chapter 54

"Yea, I heard about them before. I can't believe I forgot about it, I read the Book of Dragons so many times, how did I forget that?" She questioned. We heard a splash behind us to see Toothless and (d/n) drinking the water and starting to glow. Toothless turned purple, and (d/n) turned multiple colors. 

Then I get splashed by some. 

"Oh, come on!" I exclaim. I see (y/n) in the water and she was glowing (f/c). I started to turn purple like Toothless. I jumped into the stream and started to splash (y/n), we splashed around a little more until (y/n) spoke up.

"Wait, Hiccup, if this stream is here and glowing. Wouldn't a FlightMare be following it?" She questioned.

"Oh gods, how didn't we realize that earlier, come on we have to warn the others. This stream is extremely close to the stream and the FlightMare will see us as a threat to its food supply." We mount up and fly back towards the outpost gathering everyone to the dome.

When everyone gets there I explain what's going on. 

"Okay, we are going to do what we did the last time. Fishlegs, Snoutlout, and me will of and redirect the stream while (y/n), Astrid, and the twins will distract the FlightMare when and if it gets here. Everyone got it?" Hiccup announces. Everyone nods and mounts up to take there positions. 

My group starts to redirect the stream while the others keep watch for the FlightMare. 

*Ear Screeching Scream*

And there's the FlightMare. 

Your POV

As we distract the FlightMare the others are working with the stream. We try to get its attention, but it always goes back to the stream. Although I heard that FlightMare's are suppose to be faster than a ZippleBack, but the Twins are beating it at speed with ease, somethings not right.

That's when I remember how the gang fought it off last time. 

"Astrid, Ruff, Tuff, get your dragon's glowing, NOW!" I order. The nod and get their dragons glowing. Stormfly was glowing yellow, the twins with red and (d/n) with a rainbow. We start to blind the creature as we get up close to it and thats when I see it. 

The FlightMare's side had a huge gash in it. It looks like a ChangeWing bite. My thoughts was cut off from yells calling my name when the FlightMare had knocked me and (d/n) out of the sky while spraying its mist at (d/n) paralyzing her. 

"Hiccup!!!"

Hiccup's POV

I watched as she got knocked from (d/n) and (d/n) getting paralyzed. 

"Hiccup!!!"

"(y/n)!!!" 

I raced over and flew under her and caught (y/n) while Astrid had caught (d/n). We landed and Astrid flew back to help the Twins.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" I ask worriedly.

"Yes, I'm fine." She says rushing over to (d/n). 

"Nearly gave me a heart attack." I whisper.

"Hiccup, that FlightMare has a huge gash in it's side. That dragon is hurt, we need to help it, let me get close to it." She exclaimed while (d/n) shook off the paralyze mist that was disappearing from her system and coming to (y/n)'s side. 

"What?" I asked.

"Its got a gash in its side Hiccup, let me get, close to it." she said mounting on (d/n).

I stare at her with concern. She looks right back at me with determination.

"Let's go tame a FlightMare." I say after a few moments. We fly back up and make our way back over to the FlightMare's path.

Your POV

We head in front of the FlightMare as we signal Astrid and the twins back to help the others. When they fly off, the FlightMare let out a ear screeching roar once more. I signal (d/n) to fly closer as I stand on her back. The FlightMare snarls as I reach for it. I keep my hands stretched out and I look away to show that I trust it. I wait for a few moments before I feel a warm, scaly snout on my hand. I look back at the Dragon to see that it has accepted me and trusts me. 

I smile and look back at Hiccup. He's giving me a grin and and smile. I laugh at him and start to pet the FlightMare. After I had the FlightMare land, the rest of the gang came back and almost passed out when they saw me petting the FlightMare.

"Oh, hey guys, did you finish the stream?" I asked.

They all nod in unison. 

"Oh, meet Blossom." (Hope you like the name) I gesture to the FlightMare.

"You, you , (y/n), you, FlightMare, what happened? Exactly?" Astrid stutter. Wow, never think she'd stutter. 

"Oh, well, you see..." I lifted up Blossom's wing to reveal the gash in her side.

"Fishlegs, she needs your help. It looks like a ChangeWing pack, might have attacked her while she was traveling." I stated. Fishlegs rushed to Blossom's side and started to examine it.

"Okay, we have to move her, but carefully. Fishlegs stated.

"Alright, the rest of you head back and get a tarp of some sort and some rope to help carry the FlightMare..." Hiccup was saying. Before Fishlegs cut him off.

"Actullay I don't think that will be necessary, Blossom can fly, but only (y/n) can tell her to move." Fishlegs stated.

"Okay, but I need everyone to stay close to her in alright, don't want her to fall out of the sky." I say. 

"You ready Blossom?" I ask her. She gives me a faint nod and I smile weakly. 

Blossom was able to get back to Fishlegs hut, where he and Astrid can take care of her wound. He told me, I should go and get some rest as it was getting late. I just nodded and kissed Blossom on the top of her head and told her goodnight. 

Hiccup walked back with back to my hut as we walked in a comfortable silence. Hiccup had his arm wrapped proactively around my waist while I had my arm wrapped around his. 

"Hey, thanks again for saving me by the way." I say.

"Hey, for you, anything. I'll protect you no matter what." Hiccup says kissing me. 

"Hey, I'll protect you and you protect me, we've got each other's backs." I say wobbling. I almost fall before Hiccup catches me and scoops me up bridal style.

"Alright, time to get you to bed, you are a walking baby gronkle trying to walk." Hiccup chuckled. I giggled silently at it.

When we reached my hut, Hiccup took me upstairs and helped me with my armor. He laid me in my bed and was about to leave before I grabbed his wrist. I was on the near edge of about to accept darkness and drowsiness.

"Please....stay...." Then sleep hit me like Ruff and Tuff hitting each other with a mace. 

Hiccup's POV

She was knocked out after she finished her sentence. She was still gripping my wrist. I took off my armor and set it aside and hoped in with her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close to me like she was going to disappear. 

"I'll protect you no matter what (y/n)." I whisper and kiss the top of her head.

I fall into a deep sleep with a girl I love next to me.
