Once inside his car, his head fell on the steering wheel.
He felt thoroughly exhausted.
The uncertainty of the past year gnawing at his soul.

Life had played a cruel trick.
It had given him the hope of finding a forever home with her and then it had cruelly snatched it away.

He supposed it was his own fault.
He had let her go.

Her...
His wife....
His Abhira...

A year had passed since the day he had last seen her.

His last moments with her still haunted him, the emptiness in her eyes and the pain in her voice from the scars that he had caused were constant reminders of his actions.

The guilt felt like a stone on his heart that was drowning him into the abyss of sadness.

He missed the days when he could hold her close.
He missed her.

He could still remember how it felt to have her in his arms, to hold her close, the fragrance of lilies from her hair, every little detail was still very fresh in his memories.

Now, he just wished he had held her tighter and longer the last time he had seen her.

He took deep breaths to calm himself.

He knew that she was okay.
His constant talks with Kipling uncle had been the only thing that kept him a little sane.

But somehow even knowing that wasn't enough.
He would never feel completely okay until he had her in front of his eyes.

He knew she would and could lie to stop the other person from worrying.
She had done it before.
The thought of her lying to Kipling uncle would send shivers down his soul.

He needed to see her.
He needed to make sure that she was okay.

And he had no way of doing that.
No way of finding her.

The constant state of helplessness and guilt was too heavy a burden for him to bear.

The pain inside was getting too much.
He pinched his hand hard, hoping that the physical pain would be enough to distract him.

His phone pinged then.
The detective had reached the office and was messaging him to let him know that he was waiting.

And that gave Armaan something to think about other than his guilt.

Armaan sighed and turned on the ignition of his car and started driving to his office.

He hoped that the PI had some information today.

Something just felt off about this investigator. He hadn't really done anything wrong per se but somehow his constant inability to find anything about Abhira made Armaan feel like there was something deeper at play here.

He couldn't pinpoint it but there was something going on.

He had decided that if the man didn't bring some useful information about her today, he would fire him.
