Creek Shade barely stifled a raucous laugh. "Are you serious?" She stepped forward, her grey and white coat gleaming in the half-light. "Emotion Manipulation? Sounds like a fancy way to cry, if you ask me."
Behind her, her twin brother rolled his eyes, hiding a smirk behind his front paw. He was mouthy, but his sister? Far mouthier and much more outrageous than him.
It was only then he spoke up, his tone teetering on the sassy side. "Please, you all are just a bunch of colourful kits' meltdowns. Look at those accessories; did you raid a dumpster full of failed costume designs?"
The emo cats were taken aback. Their expressions shifted from their prideful boasts of grandeur to shock and disbelief. How could these.. these commoners dare look down on them, the feared Nightshade Legion?
"You don't know who you're messing with!" hissed the leader, her eyes narrowing ominously. "We can summon shadows out your nightmares, drown our enemies in a flood of despair, and manipulate your deepest fears!"
Lake Shadow just snorted derisively and fluttered his slick wings before he chortled, "Is that what you're calling it? Sounds like a sad weather forecast gone wrong!"
The group of Mary Sues gasped in collective horror, their eyes wide with disbelief. "You dare mock us?" screeched a tortie with wings that seemed far too heavy for her frame. "We are the embodiment of darkness and despair! You will rue the day you laughed at us!"
Fuming, another one with black fur and bright red highlights in his hair who donned a spiked collar tossed his head back. "You will feel our wrath!" He shouted, dramatically raising a paw. "Prepare for the darkness to ascend upon you!"
"In that case," Creek Shade chimed in with a disarming smile, "then what's your supreme plan? Are you going to throw glitter at us? How mortifying!" The two siblings then exchanged a conspiratorial glance and burst into laughter again.
Clearly confused and enraged by the twins' reactions, the Midnight Legion puffed up their chests and positioned themselves for a fight, but instead of charging forward, they threw a fit like a bunch of scorned kittens.
"This isn't fair!" Shadowdagger wailed angrily, flailing dramatically. "You're supposed to be intimidated!" Their leader angrily stamped a paw and screeched, "Respect us! We are feared! We are the deadliest legion of all! We are-"
"I believe we heard you very well the first time and the time after that; we know you're the Nightshade Legion. You don't need to say it over and over again unless you have amnesia," chuckled Lake Shadow with an amused leer on his face.
Furious, the emo cats then huddled together, their collective angst bubbling. "Respect us! We challenge you to a fight!" howled the leader, her voice cracking slightly as if the mere thought of losing was too unbearable to handle.
Creek Shadow raised a cat-brow, her smirk now unshakable. "A fight? You mean like a game of make-believe? We'll show you what we can do."
The calico siblings exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them. Together, they prepared to unleash their own brand of watery chaos.
With an exaggerated flick of her paw, Lake Shadow summoned the clouds overhead, his control over the stormy rain clouds seemingly rivaling their exaggerated claims. Dark clouds gathered ominously, rumbling with the promise of an impending storm.
His sister added to her brother's display with her usual flair, bowing dramatically. "Prepare for the deluge of doom that'll sweep you to the gulag of devastation!"
And just like that, the sky opened up, but instead of torrents of plain rain, it unleashed an overwhelming downpour of lethal acid rain—perfectly contained in the confines of their wild imaginations.
A blazing green shimmer filled the air as the emo cats' faces turned pale, panic washing over them as they scrambled to escape the deluge while the two Hydros, immune to whatever chaos their water prowess brought, stood back to enjoy the show.
"W-what's happening?!" wailed the glittery-marked cat as her mascara began to run, her heartthrobbed fanged teeth glinting in the unusual light. "This isn't fair! You were supposed to bow to—"
Lake Shadow merely raised a brow and flicked his claws, opening up the heavens further. His sister, on the other paw, conjured up a 'safety bubble' so she and her brother were away from the havoc of the rain.
Under his command the acidic floodwaters rose quickly, and with nowhere to go, the Nightshade Legion was waterlogged in a matter of mere seconds, sputtering and screeching as they flailed around helplessly in the slick puddles.
"Is this your mighty power?" Creek Shade giggled, waving her long grey and white tail in cheeky delight. "Because it looks like you're all just a bunch of sad, soggy, discarded pet toys now!"
The chaotic scene erupted into laughter as the twins reveled in their victory, their bright fur now glistening with water as the emo Mary Sues flailed for safety.
Lake Shadow glanced at his sister for a minute, and, as a silent understanding passed between them, she flicked her claws silently, turning the downpour into a torrential crashing storm.
The water rose as she and her brother lifted off their perch and hovered a safe distance away, their sleek, waterproof fur and feathers allowing every droplet to slide off instead of soaking into their pelts and weighing them down.
Squalid clumps of soaked fur and tears rolled below them, a cascade of caffeine hysteria and glittery tears as the emo Nightshade Legion vowed revenge—though everyone knew their powers had already tanked in the face of calico cheekiness.
No matter how much they tried to resurface their efforts always failed miserably; their gaudy accessories weighted them down in the end. The ones with wings couldn't even take off from the water due to how terribly waterlogged they were.
Soon, the last flailing emo Sue vanished below the rainwater, and with a cold grin of satisfaction, the twins flicked their claws, stopping the rain before flying back where they came from as bursts of glitter from the dead Sues burst in the rainwater.
