After my encounter with Light, I found myself drawn back to L's apartment. Despite our breakup, there was still an undeniable connection between us. I knocked on his door, half-expecting him to ignore me.

To my surprise, L opened the door, his dark eyes widening slightly at the sight of me. "Y/N? I didn't expect you."

"I... I just needed to see you," I admitted, stepping inside.

L's apartment was as cluttered as ever, case files and sweets scattered everywhere. He cleared a space on the couch, and we sat down, an awkward silence settling between us.

"I got your text," L finally said, his thumb brushing against his lower lip. "About Light Yagami."

I nodded, suddenly feeling foolish for coming here. "I thought you'd want to know."

L's gaze softened, and he reached out, his fingers brushing against my cheek. "I always want to know about you, Y/N."

The touch sent a shiver through me, and before I knew it, we were kissing. It was soft and tentative at first, but quickly grew more passionate. All the emotions we'd been suppressing came rushing to the surface.

When we finally broke apart, L rested his forehead against mine. "Stay," he whispered.

I knew I shouldn't, but I couldn't resist. We spent the night talking, laughing, and stealing kisses. It felt like old times, before the Kira case had come between us. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I fell asleep in L's bed, surrounded by his familiar scent.

I woke up feeling conflicted. Last night had been wonderful, but in the harsh light of day, our problems still remained. L was still obsessed with the Kira case, and I was still determined to investigate on my own.

With a heavy heart, I left L's apartment and headed to my Criminal Justice class. As I entered the lecture hall, I spotted Light sitting in his usual spot. He waved me over, a charming smile on his face.

"Good morning Y/N" I smiled at him warmly.

"Where's Misa?" I wondered gesturing to her empty seat next to him.

"Oh she's down with a cold. You're welcomed to sit here today if you'd like."

As the lecture progressed, I found myself stealing glances at Light. He seemed completely engrossed in the professor's words, jotting down notes with precision. When the class finally ended, Light turned to me with that disarming smile of his.

"Y/N, I've been meaning to ask you something," he said, his voice low and conspiratorial. "What are your thoughts on Kira?"

I felt my heart rate quicken. Was this a test? I decided to play it safe. "It's a complex issue," I replied carefully. "On one hand, crime rates have dropped significantly. But on the other, it's still murder, isn't it?"

Light's eyes gleamed with interest. "Interesting perspective. Many would argue that Kira is doing what the justice system has failed to do. Don't you think the world is becoming a better place because of Kira's actions?"

I hesitated, remembering L's warnings. "I'm not sure any one person should have that much power over life and death," I said finally. "It sets a dangerous precedent."

Light nodded thoughtfully. "You've clearly given this a lot of thought. I'd love to discuss this more with you. Perhaps during our study session?"

I agreed, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. As I watched Light walk away, I couldn't help but wonder if I was getting closer to the truth or if I was walking into a trap.

Third POV

Light Yagami walked away from Y/N, a small smile playing on his lips. Their conversation had intrigued him more than he cared to admit. Y/N's measured response to his question about Kira was unexpected. Most people either vehemently supported or opposed Kira, but Y/N had shown a nuanced understanding of the situation.

As he made his way across campus, Light found his thoughts drifting back to Y/N more frequently. She wasn't just L's ex-girlfriend anymore; she was becoming an interesting puzzle in her own right. Her intelligence, her caution, and her ability to see multiple sides of an issue made her stand out from the masses.

Ryuk floated beside him, chuckling. "That Y/N girl seems to have caught your attention, Light. More than just a pawn now, eh?"

Light ignored the Shinigami's teasing, but he couldn't deny the truth in those words. Y/N was becoming more than just a means to get to L. She was becoming someone he genuinely wanted to understand, to challenge intellectually, and perhaps... to win over to his side.

As he entered his room and sat at his desk, Light found himself looking forward to their study session with an eagerness that surprised him. Y/N was a wild card in his carefully laid plans, and for once, Light Yagami wasn't sure what his next move would be.
