Chapter one hundred and Eight: Carols plan.

Start from the beginning

Alyssa carefully bent down, picking up the brick in her hand. The weight felt right in her palm, and she stared at the house in front of her. This would get their attention. She was sure of it.

Without another moment's hesitation, she dashed the brick through Deanna's living room window, the sound of glass shattering slicing through the quiet street. It was loud, dramatic, and exactly what she needed.

Deanna rushed out of her house, her face contorted with anger and disbelief. She had heard the crash from her office, the sound of glass shattering like a gunshot in the quiet of Alexandria. When she saw Alyssa standing there, grinning like she was proud of what she had done, the fury inside her flared.

"What are you doing? Are you mentally deficient?!!!" Deanna boomed, her voice filled with outrage as she stormed toward Alyssa.

Alyssa stood her ground, a smug grin plastered on her face. Her black eye was swollen, her lip still bruised from the earlier confrontation, but it didn't stop the dark humor and sarcasm that radiated from her now. She looked at the shattered window with a sense of twisted satisfaction.

"If I was mentally deficient, I would've missed," Alyssa called out loudly, her voice carrying through the street.

she pointed a finger towards the shattered window. "Check that out... BULLSEYE."

Deanna's anger reached a boiling point, her face flushed with frustration as she bellowed at Alyssa.
"What are you doing?? You're supposed to be shut inside until the meeting tonight!!"

Alyssa, unfazed, shifted her weight and rested on one leg, a look of mischievous satisfaction settling on her face.

"Nothing, just pure mindless vandalism," she said with a dramatic wave of her hands, as if she were putting on a show. The sarcasm was thick in her voice, and she seemed to revel in it.

Toban, one of the older men from the community, stepped forward, his voice heavy with disapproval
"You were supposed to be the deputy..."

Alyssa's eyes flashed with a mix of bitterness and dark humor as she scoffed, rolling her eyes dramatically.
"
Oh yeah... must have slipped my mind," she said, fake slapping herself in the head with an exaggerated gesture.

Alyssa's eyes flicked subtly to the armoury in the distance, her gaze catching Carol as she emerged from the building. The bulging cardigan was a clear sign—Carol had managed to get the guns. The distraction had worked. Alyssa allowed herself a small, satisfied grin, her chaotic plan falling into place just as she had hoped.

Turning back to Toban, she let her teasing nature take over, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"You look like you'd sleep with your sister for a piece of cheese," she said, her smirk growing.

Toban's face instantly turned crimson, and he looked horrified at the accusation.

"I don't even like cheese! I'm lactose intolerant!" he stammered, trying to backpedal in his confusion.

Alyssa's snort of laughter was sharp and unrestrained.

"That makes it even worse, you sick bastard," she teased, her eyes dancing with mischief as she watched Toban squirm.

Some of the women standing nearby, who had seen Alyssa's strength and the ruthless way she'd handled Pete, exchanged nervous glances. There was an odd mix of fear and curiosity in their expressions, some even slightly attracted to her boldness and confidence.

Maggie stepped out onto Deanna's porch, her eyes immediately finding Alyssa standing in the street. Her presence was unmistakable—the swagger, the mischief in her expression, the defiance in the way she held herself. Maggie had known Alyssa long enough to see through her antics, to recognize when something was brewing. She rolled her eyes, half exasperated, half fond. Of course, this was one of Alyssa's plans. The girl was always pushing boundaries, always stirring the pot.
