"It's the only thing that makes sense," Marty agreed. She looked over to see the Autobots preparing to go through another ground bridge.
Heavy footsteps sounded. Uneven ones at that. Behind the canyon wall came the undead corpse of Skyquake. It lumbered for the Bots.
"Zombie!" Miko warned, running for them.
"Guys, look out!" Jack cried.
"Optimus!" Marty tried.
"It's right behind you!" Raf worried.
Skyquake raised his arm to slice at Bulkhead, but his hand fell through.
"Awesome," Miko grinned. "It can't touch them, either."
Skyquake turned around and growled at them.
"If that thing can't touch the Bots..." Marty trailed off.
"Just like we can't..." Jack added.
"Then we're trapped in the shadow zone with a Decepticon zombie!" Raf gasped.
Miko gulped. "If we aren't ghosts now, we will be soon."
"Come on!" Jack shouted. They ran as fast as they could as Skyquake followed.
Raf tripped and ate dirt, but Jack was able to grab him. They hid behind a rock to catch their breath.
"Jack, my glasses!" The boy said.
Marty peeked out to see the red frames deserted on the ground. "Way too dangerous."
"I can't see without them," Raf argued.
"What are you, 90?" Miko huffed.
Jack glared at her. "Not helping."
Miko rolled her eyes. "Fine." She took off running and snagged Raf's glasses before Skyquake could stomp her. She ran back and handed them to Raf. "Here you go, gramps. Let's book."
Marty nodded and broke back into a sprint. She hated running, so so much. But if it meant stayed alive, she would gladly run.
"Maybe we could set a trap, try to crush it," Miko suggested.
"With what?" Marty snapped. "Nothing around here is solid except us and the ground."
"We can't run forever," the pink haired girl retorted. "But maybe we can hide."
They ran until they were sure Skyquake was far behind them. Marty collapsed on the ground, her lungs burning.
"The best thing about zombies," Miko panted. "They're slow-moving." She hunched her back a swung her arms in a zombie fashion.
Music interrupted their recovery.
Marty snapped up, looking at Jack. "Is that your–?"
The teen grabbed it out of his pocket. "Phone! Phone! Phone! Hello? Arcee? Can you hear me? Hello? A-Arcee?" Static. "Nothing."
Miko put a hand on her hip. "Gee, imagine that. The fourth dimension has lousy cellphone reception."
Jack held his hands up. "Wait, guys, guys, guys. The phone rang. We're getting a signal."
Raf hummed. "Maybe the Autobots can't see or hear us because we're moving at hyperspeed or something."
Lightbulb. "Do you think that they could read us?" Marty inquired.
"Texting!" Raf exclaimed.
"Text me!" Miko gasped. "If my phone's back at the base, maybe they'll see it."
