"Brit, here's a keycard, and it's a Level 3 one!" Vale said excitedly.
Before, the two of them, along with the others, had worked hard and only managed to get a Level 1 card and a Level 2 card. In the end, they got a Level 3 card after using the "The Clockworks". They didn't expect to find a Level 3 Keycard here.
"What is this place?" Brit turned around and took a look at the Level 3 Keycard, feeling very confused.
A Level 3 Keycard just sitting here meant that this place wasn't ordinary. But they had arrived here in a daze, and there was no explanation in the "Strategy Post," so now they were completely in the dark. They would have to explore it themselves step by step.
"Let's rest a bit first and head out later." Brit exhaled slightly.
Vale nodded and the two of them sat against the wall and took a rest.
During this time, Brit went over their situation carefully again. First, they were caught by the scary old man, taken to a mysterious space, wandered around in the space, and then arrived here again. This place should also be part of the Foundation, but who knows which part.
Second, they only had the Level 3 Keycard they had just acquired. Because they hadn't expected to survive, they had given all their other items to Kiwo before.
Finally, "The Old Man" hadn't appeared again. He had thrown them into his Pocket Dimension and disappeared, leaving them unsure of his intentions. But Brit felt there were definitely many dangerous areas hidden in the Pocket Dimension of "The Old Man" that they hadn't explored yet.
For now, they had gotten lucky and stumbled out. Perhaps even "The Old Man" hadn't anticipated this?
"Hey, no point overthinking it. We'll take things one step at a time. First, we need to figure out where we are!" Brit shook his head.
Vale, meanwhile, was grunting in pain. Brit looked over and immediately knew that Vale's appendicitis and hemorrhoids were acting up, but now there was no way to solve Vale's problem. Poor Vale could only grit his teeth and bear it.
After their rest, Brit stood up and said, "Let's go! Let's try to clear this place as quickly as possible!"
Vale also gritted his teeth and stood up, but his slightly distorted face made it obvious that the pain had gotten worse.
"Can you handle it?" Brit asked, concerned.
Vale shook his head: "I'm okay, I can push through!"
Brit patted Vale on the shoulder and then walked over to the metal door. After Vale joined him, Brit pressed the red button and the metal door opened. As far as they could see, there was a horizontal passage ahead, thick pipes ran along the opposite wall. There was a steel net on the ground, and pipes passed through it as well.
Brit entered the metal door first, and Vale followed closely behind. After reaching the passage, Brit looked around and found that there was a wall to the right and a metal door at the end of the passage to the left. The two began walking toward the metal door and the sound of their footsteps echoed harshly in the quiet environment.
When they reached the metal door, Brit discovered that it required a keycard to open, and they had just so happen to get a Level 3 Keycard.
"It seems like this Level 3 Keycard was meant for this." Brit muttered, swiping the card lightly.
The metal door opened and the scene beyond the door came into view.
"This place feels even more oppressive, and it's different from the previous Containment Area..." Brit whispered.
There was another passage beyond the metal door, but the passage walls were rough and mottled, giving it an older, more rugged feel. Not far from the wall was a yellow-white painted ventilation pipe, there was a faint noise came from it, making them feel tense. The ceiling of the passage was low, and there was an emergency light dimly illuminating the space. The ground was not concrete but rather iron sheets.
"Is this a hidden map?" Brit wondered aloud as he surveyed the passage.
But a guess was still just a guess. To know the answer, they had to explore it themselves.
"Let's go." Brit whispered.
The two entered the outer passage, looked left and right, and could see more metal doors. The metal door on the right was closer, so they chose to go right. After opening the door, they found another long passage with yet another metal door at the end. The only difference was that in the middle of the passage, on the left, there was an elevator.
"Let's check it out." Brit said, and they quickly reached the end of the passage, only to find that the metal door at the end required a fingerprint to unlock.
Brit instantly remembered the item he had picked up in SCP-012 Containment Chamber, a Severed Arm. It seemed like this item might be needed here.
"Let's take the elevator." With no way to unlock the door, they could only return to the elevator.
They entered the elevator and pressed the button. In no time, the elevator began to move. Brit and Vale both felt that the elevator was descending and after a while, the elevator arrived. When the doors opened, a long circular passage stretched out in front of them.
"Hey, there's something on the ground." Vale was the first to notice a file-like paper on the floor near the elevator entrance.
Brit went over to pick it up. A simple structural diagram was drawn on the paper and in the upper right corner, something was printed:
[ Research Department 02-Design Plan (SCP-049 Containment Chamber) ].
