The wind howled louder, the snow falling thicker around them. Taehyung didn’t move, didn’t speak. His mind was a whirlwind of guilt, grief, and anger—at the world, at himself, at the choices that had led them here.
“I’m sorry, Taehyung,” he began, his words shaking slightly. “I’m sorry I kept Jungkook’s place hidden from you all these years. I had to. He asked me to. He… he was so hurt. He never wanted to see you again.”
Taehyung’s chest tightened, his breath uneven. His vision blurred as tears welled up, spilling silently down his cheeks. “It’s my fault,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “All of it. If I hadn’t… If I just…” His words broke off as a sob escaped him, raw and unrestrained.
Ba Reum reached out, placing a firm hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. “Stop,” he said gently but firmly. “You can’t keep drowning in this guilt. You have to see that you have one last chance to make this right.”
Taehyung raised his head, his eyes red and swollen, but filled with a glimmer of desperation.
“Jungkook gave up on life a long time ago,” Ba Reum continued, his voice heavy with sorrow. “But then, he found you. You gave him hope again. A reason to fight, a reason to believe. And you let him go, Taehyung. You let him walk away. But now…” He paused, his eyes locking with Taehyung’s. “Now you have one last chance. One.”
Taehyung’s heart ached at the weight of those words. His shoulders shook as he tried to steady his breathing.
“A person can’t be saved twice,” Ba Reum said, his tone both a warning and a plea. “If you mess this up, if you let him slip through your fingers again, you’ll lose him. Forever. And he won’t come back this time.”
Taehyung lowered his head into his hands, his sobs quiet but unrelenting. His mind raced with images of Jungkook—how fragile he looked, how lost, yet how precious he was.
“And it’s not just about him,” Ba Reum added, his voice softening. “It’s about you, too.”
Taehyung looked up, confusion mingling with the pain in his eyes.
“You finally had a chance to live, Taehyung,” Ba Reum said, his voice cracking. “And that chance is Jungkook. He’s your light, your reason. But you didn’t appreciate it before. You didn’t hold on tight enough. Now, just like him, you have one last chance. A chance to live, to love, to fight for what matters.”
The wind carried the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore, as if nature itself was urging Taehyung to listen, to act.
Ba Reum’s gaze softened as he added, “Don’t lose yourself. Don't lose him again.”
Taehyung clenched his fists, the tears still streaming down his face. His chest burned with determination, his heart pounding with the realization that this truly was his final chance—not just to save Jungkook but to save himself.
The wind carried a heavy silence as Ba Reum spoke, his voice low and calm, yet laced with a quiet urgency. “Taehyung,” he began, his eyes fixed on the snowy ground in front of them. “If you want to help Jungkook, you can’t rush this. You can’t force him to heal or forgive. He’s been through too much—his parents, his health, you… Life hasn’t been kind to him.”
Taehyung sat still, his knees pulled close to his chest as he listened, his face pale and his eyes red from crying. He swallowed hard, his throat aching, but he didn’t interrupt.
“Don’t pressure him,” Ba Reum continued, turning his gaze toward Taehyung. “Don’t push him into anything he’s not ready for. Let him be angry. Let him blow up if he needs to. He has so much pain inside him, Taehyung, and it has to come out. Let him yell, let him cry—just let him feel.”
