It was late one night when Jungkook  stared at his phone screen, Taehyung’s contact still open.  Jungkook wanted to make this right or he's go crazy and end up in an asylum ..he just didn't know what or how to go about it.

Jungkook:
Taehyung, we need to talk

The words felt too blunt, too abrupt.
He stared at the message for several minutes before he finally pressed send.

Jungkook waited. The seconds stretched into minutes, then into an hour. No reply.

But then, a vibration from his phone.

Taehyung:
What’s wrong, Kook?
You’ve been acting weird lately

(Jungkook  stared at the message,"Wait whatt I've been acting weird)?"

Jungkook:
Can we talk? About… that night?

Taehyung:
What’s there to talk about?

Jungkook:
umm- what happened at the penthouse on the p-party

Taehyung:
I don’t know Jungkook ..
I have a feeling this will go towards an awkward conversation

Jungkook:
So… you want to pretend it never happened?

Taehyung:
It’s not about pretending
I think we should just focus on the business side of our relationship for now

Jungkook blinked at the screen, re-reading the message over and over before reacting with a thumbs up.

Focus on the business side.

It felt so so detached, so not them.He waited, while His mind raced with possibilities.

But the way Taehyung so effortlessly compartmentalized what had happened between them made Jungkook feel like a fool.

In the coming days ,Taehyung pulled away completely. He wouldn't come over to any discussion,he just  send a replacement every time there was a meeting.

Still he met  Taehyung 2-3 times in the coming months regarding launch and promotions.

He hated the way Taehyung would purposely choose a seat farthest from him  during meetings, his eyes glued to his laptop as if Jungkook didn’t even exist.

Just after lunch Jungkook saw him again. Taehyung was talking to Namjoon by the coffee machine, his back to Jungkook.

He seemed pretty unaffected - he spoke in the same steady tone, nodded  and even cracked a joke or two with Namjoon.

Things were different only when it came to Jungkook.

But Jungkook drowned in his own guilt.
Did I cross the line? Did I ruin us?

Jungkook  couldn't stop thinking about how Taehyung must see him now—reckless, impulsive, needy.

He hated himself for it.

Normally, Jungkook would walk up and make some sarcastic comment or give Taehyung a hard time, but now it was an impossible possibility.

Instead, he watched, then
turned away and left the area, heading straight for the elevator.
His mind was spinning. He didn’t even know why he was so upset. He just was.
