Chapter 4 - Are you Hiring?

I sighed and sat down on a bench in the park. I hoped that the next time I came by it would have fixed lights. The last time I was in it, it was pitch black due to the sudden power "surge".

I looked around and stayed there for a few long minutes until I was hit in the face by a leaflet. I slowly took it and checked what it said: "HIRING STAFF". After a moment of contemplation I came to a conclusion: 'That could work'.

I checked the address on it and went to said location. Sure enough it was there, it turned out to be a restaurant with almost 5 stars so I understood that it could have trouble hiring staff. On the other paw I was unsure whether they would take me, a simple new Dexoy Collage student, but then I won't know unless I try, right?

As I entered I was quickly greeted by a Flareon.

"Welcome to Zygard Cuisine! What would the reason for your visit be?" He said enthusiastically.

"Well I came here because I found out that you are hiring" I said showing the leaflet.

"Oh, well the position for the server is already taken. They'll be starting Monday" he stated bringing my hopes down a bit.

"buut we could probably use another cook since I'm the only one right now" he added quickly.

I smiled after hearing that since it would be perfect for me, "and how will we see if I'll get employed?" I asked.

"Well normally we'd chose one based on their finished collage, however since you probably haven't finished it yet we'll just do a cooking duel, like I had." He said.

"Yeah, you're right, I haven't finished mine yet." I said slightly embarrassed of the fact.

"Yep, but the Judge will be the owner. He is very picky" the Flareon told me.

"Sounds good" I responded, "what kind of food should I make then?"

"We'll make some spicy tomato berry curry" he said.

"Oh really? That sounds good, how much time do I get?" I asked.

"About half an hour" he said with a smirk probably expecting me to panic.

"Oh, nice! That's plenty!" I stated relieved. Surprising him.

I started making the rice and cut the chicken. I made sure that all the chicken was similar in size and started adding other berries. Although there are lots of berries, not many actually work well with curry. I took the Pomeg and Kelpsy berries, and cut them together with the tomato berries. I added a few drops of a Sitrus berry since it would bring out a bit more of the taste while also faking some additional spice.

I looked at the Flareon and saw him using watmel berries mixed with Rabura berries for his curry sauce.

I swiftly decided to instead use Bluk and Rawat berried instead so that the spice didn't stay for too long in your mouth, but for long enough for you to feel the need for a drink.

After a bit more mixing and then cooking it together I had finished my meal with about 4 minutes to spare. In that time I decided to add a side dish, a pudding you could say. It was nothing special since I made it in a few minutes, but it was still delicious as far as I could tell.

When the time was up I put my meals on the table and waited for the manager to come and try them.

Soon I heard footsteps approaching the table. I turned around and saw that it was a Arcanine. I assumed that he was the manager, and waited to see what would happen next. The chance that it was in fact a fire time relieved me as my dish was very well suited for fire types, or any Pokemon that liked spice.
