Death must be so beautiful compared to the cruel world surrounding us. To lie on the gravel and let it cover your soulless body—no pain, no sins, no bad memories of a life that isn't yours anymore.

Forget yesterday, today, and tomorrow—time and people, sun and moon—just to experience endless silence while reminiscing about the only glimpse of happiness the universe gifted you: peace.
Be in complete peace.

Daisy had never desired to feel that way until now, tied up in the chair while scanning the same man who somehow had managed to make living a heavy assignment—to the point of asking God to forgive her for something that wasn't even her fault.

He hadn't changed since the last time she saw him. Lucien still carried himself with utter confidence; no matter the place, he owned it effortlessly with his mere dark presence—that was stronger than she remembered.

And part of her could see a glimpse of herself in his ways of moving while preparing the altar for whatever ritual he had in mind—the delicacy in placing candles, the captivated gaze, that aristocracy in touching objects with full understanding of his own power but still not overusing it.

Deep down, she recognized that over the years she had channeled him into her soul so much that she might become his ghost walking the earth—the similarities were growing more terrifying than simply being locked in this forgotten cottage with him.

"So, my love, I see you found yourself some company while I was gone," he whispered, taking a seat on the couch right in front of her, scanning her shivering body—his eyes fell on the new tattoos now adorning her arms.

"Please let me go," her voice was almost inaudible under the sound of tears framing her face, not even able to accept this was actually happening again.

"Why? You want to go back to those freak gingers?" he scoffed, leaning forward until mere inches from her—not only predatory, but already targeting his prey. "Oh, you think they'll come to save you, huh?"

That was maybe the last thing Daisy wanted, even if she was well aware Fred and George wouldn't stop looking for her in every corner of the world. But part of her wished they'd let it go before they could fall victim to Lucien's magic.

Seeing them get hurt would truly break her this time, and there was no turning back from that. She would've either reached for them in the high sky or finally become a walking corpse, empty of all emotions—exactly how everyone expected her to be at this point.

"Look at me, love."

The fingers tracing her cheek felt like an electric shock completely invading her body and taking control of it with minimal effort.

She could feel her heart pounding almost out of her chest as he gripped her, forcing their eyes to meet after so long—they were still a big void to fall into without escape.

Words weren't able to express what was rushing through Daisy's mind. It had taken over a year to feel safe around a man again, to push away the memories entering her soul, attacking her inside, engraving themselves into her skin.

And now, that desperate need to vanish into thin air—to not permit anyone to touch her—rose up in one big, rough wave. If a god was listening, she prayed for it to end as soon as possible.

Not even the reassuring vision of Fred and George managed to give her the will to live. The love was strong but nothing compared to the scars slowly reopening with every breath.
