And dropped it onto the table.

Catherine's breath caught.

Lorenzo's smirk was razor-sharp. "Recognize this?"

Serena did.

Because it was the one Catherine had been trying to erase.

A photograph of Isabella. Not with Antonio. Not with Rinaldo.

But with someone else.

Catherine's lips parted slightly.

Serena could see the exact moment she realized she had lost.

Lorenzo leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table. "You're going to tell me everything, Catherine."

She swallowed. "And if I don't?"

Lorenzo smirked.

Then—he slid his gun onto the table.

Not a threat. A promise.

His voice dropped, smooth and calm.

"Then you're going to wish Rinaldo had killed you, too."

Catherine broke.

Not in the way someone shattered under pressure. Not in the way a person collapsed when they had nothing left.

No—this was different.

This was the realization that there was nowhere left to run.

That she had played the game, lost, and was now at the mercy of men who didn't believe in mercy.

Serena watched as Catherine's lips parted slightly, her breath unsteady. Her eyes flickered to the gun Lorenzo had placed on the table.

Not a threat. A decision waiting to be made.

Lorenzo leaned back, arms crossed, his expression casually unreadable.

The silence stretched.

And then—Catherine exhaled sharply.

"You want the truth?" she muttered, her voice edged with something bitter.

Lorenzo didn't blink. "I don't want anything from you."

A pause.

"I'm just taking what I already know."

Catherine let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head. "God, you really are Antonio's son."

Lorenzo smirked. "That's what they tell me."

Catherine tilted her head, studying him. Then, finally, her gaze slid toward Serena.

And that's when Serena felt it.

The shift.

Because this wasn't just about Isabella anymore.

Catherine knew something else.

Something bigger.

And it had to do with her.

Santiago must have caught it too, because his stance shifted slightly, his weight settling on one foot. His body language changed.

More alert. More dangerous.

Catherine's eyes didn't leave Serena.

"You still don't get it, do you?" she murmured.

Serena clenched her jaw. "Get what?"

Catherine exhaled a quiet laugh, shaking her head.

Then—she leaned forward slightly, lowering her voice just enough to make the words hit harder.
