September 11th, 1997
It's her fourth day at school, and it's still like she's the new girl in a place she'll never fit in.
The stares, the giggles, the occasional group of students pointing as she walks by, it's enough to make her want to disappear.
The halls seem too small, too loud.
By the time she reaches the hallway leading to her next class, she's had enough. She wants out. She pushes open the door to the stairwell, stepping out, trying to clear her head.
She's only a few steps in when she bumps into Dd. "You look like you 'bouta lose it," He comments lazily.
El tries to give him a small smile but it fades fast. She can feel his eyes on her, even under the weight of all the chaos in her mind. She lets out a quiet sigh, glancing around. "School stuff."
