"You're missing out," he said, grabbing one of the custom grip handles and testing its weight in his hand. "Flying's the best feeling in the world."
Y/n made a face. "Yeah, right after plummeting to my death."
Mattheo laughed, shaking his head. "You're impossible."
"Thank you."
"Alright, can we leave now?" Pansy cut in. "We've established that Y/n still hates flying, Mattheo still thinks he's Merlin reincarnated, and Draco's disappeared off somewhere."
Y/n frowned, looking around. "Where did he go?"
"No clue." Mattheo glanced toward the door, clearly debating whether to wait for Draco or move on. After a second, he shrugged. "Guess we'll find him later. Where to next?"
Y/n considered it for a moment. "Scrivenshaft's?"
Pansy made a face. "Why?"
"I need new quills," she said simply. "Some of us actually take notes in class, Pans."
Mattheo snorted. "Yeah, alright, let's go."
With that, the three of them left Ben's Boundless Brooms and started towards Scrivenshaft's, leaving Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle to whatever fate had befallen them.
A/N: if your so inclined to know, they are currently getting terrorised by an invisible Harry
Walking into Scrivenshaft's, Y/n wandered over to the ink pot stations, immediately eyeing a deep emerald-green ink that caught her attention. She needed a new pack of quills for sure, but she also needed more ink—especially since Draco had a habit of 'borrowing' hers without returning it.
Pansy, following close behind, sighed dramatically. "I swear, Y/n, only you could make a Hogsmeade trip about schoolwork."
Y/n hummed in response, picking up a set of raven-feather quills. "It's called being responsible, Pans."
"More like being a nerd," Mattheo chimed in from behind her, reaching past her to pluck a fancy silver-inlaid quill from the stand. "And yet, somehow, you still act like you're above us all."
Y/n rolled her eyes, snatching the quill from his hands and placing it back. "Oh, please. At least I can write a decent essay without begging someone to let me copy theirs five minutes before class."
Mattheo grinned, utterly unbothered. "And yet, I still manage to pass. What does that say about me?"
"That you're an insufferable git who gets by on sheer dumb luck," she shot back.
Pansy, standing between them, exhaled loudly. "Do you two ever stop?"
"No," they replied in unison, then immediately exchanged amused smirks.
Mattheo leaned against the counter, watching as Y/n tested the weight of a quill in her hand. "You know, you put all this effort into school, but I bet you'd fail spectacularly at something that actually requires talent."
Y/n arched a brow. "Oh? And what would that be?"
"Quidditch."
She scoffed, placing the quill down. "That's not talent, that's just a lot of showing off while trying not to fall to your death."
Mattheo grinned. "Sounds like you're scared."
"I am not scared," she huffed. "I just prefer to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground, thanks."
Pansy groaned. "Not this again."
Mattheo turned to her dramatically. "Pans, can you believe that? Our dear Y/n, too terrified to even leave the ground on a broom."
