Chapter 11 - One step Closer

I pulled my attention away from the door as a paw was put on my shoulder.

"Don't laugh at Rea's work, you might get slapped" advised Petal with a smile.

"Okay I won't , but I just recalled when I was practically addicted to making my projects look good." I explained, "I used to spend days working just to make it look good, now that I think about it I did publish some of them." I added.

"Nooo, you mean you had a faze like that?" asked Petal disbelievingly.

"Yeah, it's kind of funny now that I think about it" I confirmed.

Petal looked just stood there thinking until  she seemed to want to ask me something else, but she got interrupted by a opening door.

We both turned to it to see Rea coming out with her drawing tablet.

"So Grey, do you mind helping me out with these drawings?" She asked.

"Sure!" I responded.

"Aww, can't we just play some game or something?" Asked Petal.

Exactly as she asked me I got a message from Spark. I took my phone out and read it.

"Sylvia is making a sleepover tomorrow huh?" I read out loud.

"Ooh! Who's that?" Asked Petal.

"My dorm is kind of unusual, it's half girls half boys, she's one of the girls" I explained as I kept looking. Turns out that I can invite someone if I want.

"Huh... anyone want to join the sleepover?" I asked after a moment's thought.

"Yep!" Shouted Petal.

"Sure, but help me with these drawings now" agreed Rea.

"Okay, okay, no more distractions" I agreed before looking over her work.

<Emerald POV>

My past few days had been full of decisions. I ended up revealing more about Grey than I thought I would, did he still not recognise me? I sighed and stared at the ceiling.

It was a late evening, it was already dark, but I didn't want to go back home. School was difficult and my parents didn't care. I stared up at the stars as if to use their stability to keep me sane.

Time seemed to slow down and eventually I got up from my spot. Before I could go however I noticed another figure staring at the stars, a fellow eevee.

I stood there not knowing what to do. I immediately recognised him as my crush, Grey. I knew that it probably wasn't the best idea for someone who anyway had trouble, but I went and laid down beside him.

He seemed oblivious to me for a few more moments before muttering to himself.

"Isn't the night sky beautiful...?" He muttered.

I stayed quiet for a moment before responding.

"Yeah... It's definitely something that doesn't change, nice and stable..." I whispered.

He didn't respond for a good while before I turned to him.

"Well, you're not wrong, but then I guess you would know" he whispered.

I gained a small blush, had he seen me here before? It seemed unlikely, but I could tell that he wasn't lying. How did I miss my crush!?

"Well anyway, I'm Grey, what's your name?" He asked me turning his head at me.

"I-Im..." I wanted to say Emerald, but that wasn't what I wanted to be called, it left unpleasant memories that I didn't want resurfacing while I was relaxing, "...Im Platina" I finished.

"Well Platina, could you stop being so stunning? I can't get up.

I blushed at that, was he... flirting with me?

"A-are you trying to flirt...?" I asked.

He suddenly looked extremely embarrassed.

"Y-yeah... I mean I s-should learn to do s-so some day" he answered looking away.

He turned his head back and we both stared at each other before bursting into laughter.

"You're gonna have to train a lot then!" I responded when I stopped laughing.

"Okay o-okay I get it! How good was it from 1 to 10?" He asked curiously.

"...Maybe that one was actually a 7 out of 10" I whispered quietly.

"Yessss... that's good right?" He responded making us both laugh again.

And that is a late, but finished chapter! Did the backstory work? Originally Emerald was going to be a bit different, but I'll leave the option of a shiny Espeon ship open for now, could be good.

Anyway sorry for the delay with the chapter, some claim that collage have the most work (I think?), but then there is my school where each test is on a high level, kinda annoying. I had two on Monday and one tomorrow!

But that's just life, what did you think of the chapter? Is there anything I could have improved or added? Maybe some mistake I made? Let me know!
