Chapter 13: Weatherborn.

Start from the beginning

"I saw it" she murmured.

And then she moved. It was perfectly timed.

"Do that again" Rhei exclaimed, amazed.

"I don't know how I did it" Auri murmured.

"But I will"

Wen gave a blink.

"Being conscious of time. Auri, you're seeing probabilities"

Mira, Sera, and Izzy moved through a rising tide. Thalorca towered over them, her voice like thunder dragged underwater.

"You offer empathy" she stated.

"But have you surrendered control?"

Waves smashed against the walls. One by one.

Sera gripped Mira's arm before she could slip.

"She's conveying feeling. The water changes according to how we react"

"I'm trying to calm it"

Mira murmured, her eyes closed and her arms extended.

"But it's not working"

"You're harmonising with the storm" Sera explained.

"Try harmonising with her"

Mira opened her eyes, caught Thalorca's stare, and let go. Not in line with her stance. She needs to correct it.

"I'm not here to comfort you" she said.

"I'm here to feel with you"

The tide became still. Thalorca tilted her head, leisurely and interested.

Sera's skin gleamed with warmth, not from mending but from channelling. Mira's posture was stabilised by the flow of energy from her.

Izzy took two metal plates from her backpack and clipped them together.

"Wave resonance dampener"

She grumbled. Two minutes.

"Let us talk while we have it"

Lyra was standing alone.

Vortigon encircled her like a storm over a mountaintop.

"I see all timelines" He replied.

"But they twist when I get too close. What do you see?

Lyra remained still.

"I see pathways. Some were broken.  Some waiting to be walked. But I'm no longer running from dead ends"

Vortigon opened his mouth. A current developed wind, lightning, and light.

Lyra walked into it. Avoid attacking. Feel it.

The stars illuminated her crystal, which spun faster than ever before. Her eyes shone white, then blue, and finally bright gold.

She moved through the air as if the storm greeted her. And then something occurred.

The elements curved.

Thalorca's body ascended into a swirl of mist and light. Her shape shrunk, and her fins grew into rainy wings. She became speedier. Clearer. More fluid than an ocean.

Pyronyx exploded upward, his molten form collapsing into a brilliant crystal and heatless flame. He roared—lbnot in fury, but in relief.

Vortigon split into three currents and then reunited, his body transformed into a perfect storm, with arcs of blue plasma rolling through his ribs like breath.

They had undergone evolution. And the girls did as well.

Auri's perception was sharper, with futures flickering just long enough to act.

Wen could see the elemental energy all around her and coded it like a living interface.

Rhei's machines switched in mid-battle, responding automatically.

Mira could communicate with elemental beings but not command them.

Sera connected people's lives by channelling their energy through her.

Izzy's technology rebuilt mid-use, learning as it went.

Lyra danced with the storm as her starmap aligned with the sky.

When the light dimmed, the chamber fell silent. It's not broken. Whole.

The thrones had blended into a single circular platform, shimmering softly with the balance of the three forces.

The Weatherborn stood tall, not as opponents, but as guardians reborn.

"You do not replace us" Thalorca remarked.

"You remind us"

"You're not here to inherit power" Pyronyx muttered.

"You are here to guide it"

Vortigon bowed deeply.

"Now... the Uncoded Core awaits"

As the girls gathered in the centre of the chamber, a spiral of light unfolded. An ancient gate that changed colours no one could identify.

The deeper reality lay below. And now they were prepared to confront it.
