"What, like a memory?" Natalie asked as she shook her head, trying to wrap her mind around Cisco's words. Cisco stared blankly at the board again, fear etching itself into his facial features. Stepping closer to him, Natalie rubbed his shoulder in reassurance and spoke softly, "What happens in the dream, bud?"
"Dr. Wells is the Reverse Flash.. And, he kills me."
Without a second thought, Natalie hugged him, though Cisco didn't hug back, too scared that his dreams could possibly be real. Caitlin stared blankly at her colleague before storming out of the room, "This is insane."
Natalie looked back at Joe and Barry before running down the stairs after her, "Caitlin-"
"No, Natalie! How, how do you believe this?" Caitlin screamed causing Natalie to blink back in surprise at her outburst.
Natalie took a deep breath, knowing that all of this was a lot of information to take in, and spoke softly, especially with all of the officers staring at them in the middle of the lobby. "As I was saying before, I haven't known Dr. Wells for very long, but from what I do know, he's a fairly sketchy man."
Caitlin clenched her jaw, "Just because your boyfriend tells you that you automatically believe him? I'm your family, Natalie. I trust Dr. Wells but that doesn't mean anything to you, does it."
Natalie bit her tongue, "What would you do if the roles were switched and it was Ronnie telling you he didn't trust Dr. Wells? You would believe him, Cait."
"Dr. Wells saved Ronnie," Caitlin retorted stepping closer to Natalie.
"Barry said Wells wanted to kill him, Cait. Remember that? Sacrifice Ronnie and Stein so that they didn't go nuclear! Barry also said he sacrificed Tony a few months ago to distract a metahuman that got loose at S.T.A.R. Labs. What kind of man has no guilt at sacrificing people, letting people die, so that he, and his prized possessions, live?"
"I've worked with him for years, Natalie. You've only known him for a few months. So has Barry. I think I have a better opinion on who Dr. Wells is," Caitlin hissed.
"Yes, that is true, but how much can you tell me about who Harrison Wells is outside of working at S.T.A.R. Labs and the accident involving Tess? " Taking Caitlin's silence as an answer, Natalie continued, "If there is any chance that Dr. Wells is the one who killed Barry's mom, I'm going to look at all sides to protect you, Cait. I looked at both sides, and everything is pointing against Wells."
Caitlin looked at her cousin and sadly sighed, "Why now? Why are you doing this now? He's helped me, he gave me a career, he saved Ronnie."
"Because even though you don't believe us, that seed of doubt in the back of your mind will keep you safe. It keeps you on edge." Before Caitlin could leave again, Natalie grabbed her wrist pulling her back. "You can not say anything about this to Dr. Wells. Nothing. Just think about what we said, what you know about Dr. Wells, just think it over, Cait." Her cousin nodded softly before slipping out of Natalie's grasp and headed to the elevators.
Turning around, Natalie saw Barry, Joe, and Cisco standing on the stairs. "You guys saw all of that?" The three men nodded and the brunette girl sighed. "I'm just gonna go home," she announced, brushing past them to get her stuff from the labs. She noticed Barry start to move after her, "Bare, I want to be alone tonight." Barry looked at her sadly before nodding and kissed her temple softly goodbye.
Over the next few days, the two cousins barely spoke where as before the revelations, they would have spoken everyday. Caitlin had been mulling over the accusations against Wells, confused on where she stood. As she did so, she thought it would be best to stay away from Natalie, who she knew if she was around long enough, would sway her decision. The young doctor wanted to have a clear mind when she chose her side, the one she thought was right. Sitting on the steps at Joe's house was the first time she had seen Natalie since that night at the precinct.
