"Sucky. But I'm okay," I told him, taking his hand. "Who are you gonna try out for?"
"I'd only try out for Romeo if you tried for Juliet. Otherwise I was thinking about going for Benvolio or Lord Capulet." He tells me.
"Well we mine as well audition right? Maybe I still have a chance at somewhat getting on Trinket's good side." I suggest and he gives a small laugh.
"For what it's worth you're on my good side," He jokes and I punch his arm as we laugh.
We read the lines we're trying out for, it's easier than I thought, talking to Peeta this way. And he looks sincere and sounds sweet as he says everything, too.
After that school thankfully ends, and I get Prim and I ready for when we are back home before our dinner with Peeta. He's picking us up in his dad's car apparently. His dad was considering selling it to him if he made enough money at their family bakery, so I'm rooting for him. I know he wants his own car, a little piece of freedom.
"Do you like Peeta?" Prim asks as we wait outside.
"Of course I do, we're really good friends," I tell her.
"But do you like him?"
"Prim, it's none of your business," I say and decide it's too defensive. "Besides, you sure seem to like Cato."
"Nah uh!" She objects with a blush.
"It could happen, you'll be a freshman, he'll be a junior. I don't know, you may just have a shot," I tease but in reality I don't think I'd want Cato with my sister. Cato's great but from what I heard there's a lot of girls after him and Prim's so innocent and vulnerable. . . I want Cato as a friend and if he hurt Prim I'd literally have to kill him so I can't really see it going anywhere good for them if I have a say in it. Plus, he probably likes someone else.
"Shut up," She says, still blushing.
"Why should I? You're not shutting up about Peeta," I tell her.
"Whatever. Is he almost here?" Prim asks and just then Peeta pulls up in an old but classic truck, the paint is a dark grey, and it's the coolest car I've ever seen. "Peeta!"
He hops out and walks over to us before Prim jumps in his arms and he swings her around, "Hi Rosy,"
"Hi Bread-Boy!" She giggles which I've missed and puts her head in his shoulder.
He carries her over and hugs me too, if I could I'd do more. I'd take his hand, kiss him quickly. But I don't want Prim to be all over it just yet, and I know my mom may be skeptical about me dating all this sudden.
"Hey Prim why don't you go grab your jacket and your wallet, we'll go to a couple stores afterwards," I suggest.
"Okay," She takes my key and runs inside.
Peeta smiles and picks me up before kissing me.
"Hi," I smile.
"Hey," He smiles back and puts me down before opening my door for me.
I laugh a little and step in before he helps Prim lock up the house and lift her into the back seat of the truck.
"I can't believe Rosy's going to go to our school next year," Peeta says. "Enjoy being the big kid in middle school while you can."
"It's not that much different," She shrugs. "I'm more excited for high school."
"You say that now," I joke, and say to Peeta, "She's just excited for Cato."
"Oh, Cato, huh? I don't know Rosy. Anyone would be lucky to have you but he's more wanted than a criminal," Peeta smirks.
"For the last time. I don't like Cato!" She refuses.
