"𝕴 thought you said this was a romcom."

"𝑰 𝑻𝑶𝑳𝑫 𝒀𝑶𝑼 Heath Ledger was in it..." Jennie huffed, her arms crossed and her lips pushed out in a theatrical pout. "You added the rest."

Arion grinned, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "Technically, it's romantic. There's a joust and a love interest." The man, hair still wet from the shower, curling slightly at the ends.

She tossed a popcorn kernel at him. "This was supposed to be our first milestone night as flatmates. I was expecting at least one tragic kiss in the rain, not men getting knocked off horses."

Their new flat was still half unpacked, boxes of wedding magazines ( only research of course as Carolina would actually murder her if she was not up to date with the latest trends ) and a box of music sheets not in any particular order or filing system in the corner. The glow of A Knight's Tale washed over the room, soft and golden, the soundtrack humming low in the background. They were curled up on their brand new, just took off the plastic cover, suspiciously discounted couch, wrapped under a pair of mismatched fleece blankets. The smell of burnt microwave popcorn and more so burnt chocolate drizzled onto the popcorn, lingered in the air.

It was ordinary. And oddly, perfect.

She tugged at the collar of Arion's striped blue button down, the one she'd 'borrowed' and ended up wearing three days straight to work, then cast him a sideways glance, just as he was about to say the words that, years later, neither of them would find funny. "You know you'd never survive back then, right?" Arion said, not looking away from the screen.

She turned to him, scandalised. "Excuse me?"

He glanced over with a smug grin. "You'd fold the second they took away your morning coffee and colour coded spreadsheets."

She scoffed. "I'd thrive. I'd charm every noble in the court, marry the prince, and become the princess."

Arion raised a brow. "Of course you would. Poor guy wouldn't even see it coming."

Jennie grinned, grabbing her phone from the table as it pinged. She scanned a new email, her expression instantly shifting from smug to elated. "Ha! Peony crisis officially averted. My forest wedding bride lives another day."

She darted to the whiteboard by the kitchen. What had started as a chore chart had long been overtaken by Arion's chaotic doodles - knights with wonky swords, bouquets mid-battle, and a stick-figure Jennie in a crown holding a clipboard like a sceptre. She added a time and scribbled 'Reconfirm vendor!!' beneath it.
