IT had taken Sarah a lot of inner turmoil to not speak a single syllable to Pepper Potts the day after. Not even when they boarded the flight on the way to New York. Holding a grudge was something that was never new to her. But holding grudges against a loved one? That was different.
Sarah was still 'grounded' but from what? Basically everything she used was at the house, where Pepper had exclusively told their new guard dogs to not let her go.
At around 5 in the morning, they arrived at a tarmac and boarded Tony's personal jet, who wasn't around, and Sarah was sure he wasn't going to be anytime soon.
The night before, Natalie had rushed Sarah into packing her items into the bag she brought before they had to get up at an ungodly hour.
Now, they were on the plane, flying smoothly in the blue skies. Pepper was right, the flight was excruciatingly long, and due to the small grounding, she wasn't allowed to watch the small screens on the seats in front of the. But outside the circular windows of the jet showed the soft and warm white clouds.
The teen's gaze fell onto Pepper who sat in the main room of the jet, watching the news. The reporter was talking about the upcoming EXPO tonight. Then to Natalie who was sitting in there with her, reading some papers.
And Happy was in one of the other rooms, asleep.
Wanting to be separated from everyone else, Sar sat in the back of the main room, curled up in a small ball as she stared at the small of the towns and cities as they passed by below, a book sat in her lap, obviously she wasn't paying much attention to it.
The ride was a quiet one.
None of them talked that much.
Not entirely. Breaking the silence, Pepper stood up and smoothed out her black dress. "I'm going to the back room to lay down. Remind me when we're almost there." She said in her boss tone.
Natalie smiled, and watched her walk away. "Of course Ms. Potts." Then the door slid shut.
The two sat in silence for a few moments, before Sarah decided to sit properly, setting her book onto the small table in front of her. Natalie looked up at the pair of eyes she felt on her person, waiting for the girl to speak. "Sexual Harassment. That's what you're in Law for?" Sarah asked, and Natalie's eyes fell back onto the papers.
She brushed her velvet red hair from her eyes "Why?" She asked, the cautiousness making Sarah narrow her eyes.
"I dunno. Just think you could've stayed in that position instead of becoming some useless assistant." Sarah shrugged and glanced around. "Really, what made you choose to stay in a job offer with my dad? Was it the money? How much are you getting paid?" Sarah's eyes went back to her, analyzing the woman.
Natalie paused in her writing, looking up and over at the girl. Closing the folder and setting the pen down on top of it. "That's not relevant to anything—"
"And you know Nick Fury, right?" Sarah blurted, not letting her a chance to speak.
Natalie froze, and Sarah knew she had her. "W-who?" Natalie stuttered.
"Why were you sent to us in the first place? To spy?"
"What—?"
"What's your goal, here, Natalie? That is your name isn't it, Natas—?" the woman was over by Sarah in a second, her hand clapping over the girl's mouth at that point. Her eyes were suddenly hard, slitted and sharp, she didn't look like Natalie Rushman anymore.
Her gaze was in attempt to intimidate Sarah, and clearly, it was working. Sarah was wide eyed and only placed onto her.
Natalie looked around the room, making sure that no one else was around. She pulled her hand away swiftly, letting out a long, deep breath. She grumbled and sat across from Sarah as if nothing happened. "How?" She asked simply.
Sarah shifted and looked the woman. "I was there when you were at the mansion. I had heard Mr. Fury saying something about an Agent and Romanoff, and I kinda figured when dad asked if Natalie was your actual name.
Natasha didn't say anything. Her posture was tall calm attentive. She was becoming all spy-like with the silence, as if her newly formed alter-ego Natalie hadn't existed at all.
"How long?" Natasha blinked at her with slight confusion. "Have..have you been an agent?" Sarah said more specifically.
Natasha let her eyes fall on the girl. Smiling tightly. "Long time. It's a long story. Not one I'm sure you're ready for yet." The Agent whispered softly, and Sarah nodded.
"Why are you here?" Sarah asked finally. "Why did Mr. Fury send you to us? You're not here to kill anyone, are you?"
Romanoff smirked and shook her head. "No, I'm not. Director Fury is wanting an inside look at your dad's alter-ego as Iron Man." Though, of course, she was in the Stark's presence for Sarah too, but she couldn't say that, could she?
"For the Avengers Initiative?" Sarah asked curiously.
Natasha paused once more, looking at the girl. "How do you...?" But Sarah interrupted her again.
"Director Fury came to me. Told me all about it a few nights after Dad announced himself as Iron Man." Scratching the back of her neck, she paused. "There isn't much to know, Natasha. I'm just a kid with a dad who everyone happens to know." She said doubtfully.
Natasha only shook her head "Obviously not if you have Nick Fury talking to you face to face." Sarah glanced up at her, fidgeting with her fingers.
The Agent sighed and looked at the girl. "You have potential, Sarah. I see it, Phil sees it, and obviously so does Nick. It's not just you being Tony Stark's daughter, you're smart. You're capable, you're fixed enough for having a place in the initiative. Even if you don't think so. You do."
Sarah sighed and shrugged. "Guess we'll see." She muttered as the plane shook slightly. Turbulence began to shake the jet, telling the two that they were going to land. The Captain called from the intercom located at pilots cabin, and her voice sounded from the small, but loud speakers, letting them know that they were descending.
Natasha stood and smoothed her dress out. "I'll go awake Pepper. Stay here, alright? Wait for us to get off." Then she started to walk away.
"W-wait. Natasha?" Sarah stood behind her, and looked up.
Natasha stopped and turned. "Yes?" Her hair fell over her shoulder as she looked at Sarah.
"I...I just wanted to say, I think it's so badass that you're an Agent." She said shakily.
Natasha almost laughed and nodded. "Thanks." Then she left.

I just keep thinking about their bond with each other, it's so amazing! I promise to get into the longer chapters, and try to post them quicker because I am rather excited to get into the Avengers, and for Sarah to meet everyone and for me to write the beginning of Sarah's little new life!
