Jay POV

"Nya! You did it!"

I ran forward to hug my Yang, but what happened shocked me. All my arms did was splash right through her. She was literally water. I hadn't really thought about what Benthomaar had said until now.

"She is attempting to merge with the sea! But it is something that can never be undone!"

So Nya was... the ocean?
She looked like Nya, but she was made of water.

I looked into her eyes. The ones that used to be a beautiful ocean blue that I always got lost in. Now they were an eerie ice blue, and they started into space as if nothing really mattered.
Behind me, Kai chuckled.

"That's gonna take some getting used to! But we'll find a way to change you back, don't worry!"

Then Nya noticed us for the first time.

"Back?" she asked in a voice that seemed to echo from within her.

"To normal," I responded. "You know, the old you."

Nya glanced at her hand and then back at me. "Normal?"

This panicked feeling started to crawl up from the pit of my stomach. Something was wrong.

"What's wrong?" I asked her. "Are you okay?"

Then, she began to glow. She looked past me to the ocean beyond. "Do you hear it?" she asked in a voice filled with awe.

"Hear... what?" I responded, confused.

"The sea. It's so loud." She turned back to me. "So powerful."

"It calls to her," Benthomaar said sadly.

Then, Nya started to ripple and tremble. I gasped and reached for her hand. "Nya!"

"Sorry," she began, "It's difficult maintaining this shape."

"What do you mean shape, that's- that's what you are!"

"What I was. Yes." she told me calmly.
Slowly, she walked past me and all the ninja. "I have to go now. I will remember you."

"Remember?" Kai asked, his voice filled with the worry that had been gnawing at my heart ever since I started into her emotionless eyes. "What are you talking about? You're not going anywhere!"

As I watched Nya, or, what used to be Nya, slowly walking towards the edge of the building, I knew. She was leaving. She was going to live in the sea. Forever.
Panic clawed at my throat, and I ran in front of her.

"Nya! Stop! Wait! Listen! Something is wrong with you." I held up my hands to try to stop her. "You're not thinking straight. You have to concentrate, you have to focus, you have to... turn back," I was spouting every Master Wu-ism I could possibly think of.
But Nya walked right through me.
I gasped and shook the water out of my hair, then realized she wasn't in front of me anymore.
I whirled around to see her continue her walk to the edge of the building.

"No!"
I grabbed for her, but my human hand splashed right through her watery one.
"Don't leave me!" I cried, desperate.

In that moment, I didn't even think about how pitiful I sounded. All I knew was that the love of my life was leaving and apparently didn't care.

Then... she stopped.
And turned around.

Was she remembering? Did she change her mind? Did she even have a mind anymore?

She walked over to me and gently took my hand... somehow.
But I didn't care how.
I looked at our hands, then at her.

She smiled and slowly brushed my cheek with her hand, just like she used to.

Then she let go of me and turned back around.

I didn't know what to do.
I couldn't stop her, no matter what I did.
Then I heard Master Wu's voice.

"Nya, I implore you! Whatever you're hearing, whatever you're experiencing, fight it, Nya! Remember who you are! Remember!"

I looked at her in absolute hopelessness. Would she remember?

She turned to face us again.
"I am Nya. I am the sea. We are one."

The tears that had threatened to spill over finally started tumbling down my face.

'We're one now, Nya.'

That's what I had said on the day I proposed.

But now that day only made me more heartbroken.

I couldn't think of anything to do or say to get her to stay.
But I needed her to stay.
I needed her.

"Nya!" I called after her in desperation. "I... I love you."

She smiled again.
"Tell my mother I understand now. That's the way the cookie crumbles."
Then, to my horror, she turned back to face the sea and spread her arms.

"No... no, no, no!! Come back!!" I ran towards her as she leaped off the building and into the ocean below.

"NYAAA!!"

But she was gone.
