Several hours have passed since I left the dire tombs. I spent this time going to Old Man Sven, I had to inform him that I would stop being an adventurer and, therefore, that we would no longer be able to trade. And as a farewell deal, I sold him more than half of the cores from the horde of mana beasts that I had finished off in the dire tombs. Sven was outraged that I had terminated our deal so soon, but he still wished me luck in my future studies…
Right now, sitting in a carriage, I was heading to the Guild, because Arthur should be there. After racking my brains, I came to the conclusion that the scion of the Wykes family is now being tried for what he did in the dungeon, but given that he is from an influential family, he will get out of this mess unscathed. Well, at least Arthur should be paid some compensation.
Assuming he doesn’t do anything stupid…
« … »
«Brrr» — after this thought, I was thrown into a shiver. Could he really not restrain himself and do something stupid? What if he killed…
Suddenly, an unexpected tapping pulled me from my thoughts. - «We’ve arrived!» — the coachman’s words reached me, and only then did I realize that the carriage had stopped for some time. «Y-yes, now!» — I said and quickly jumped out of the carriage.
After I paid the coachman, the carriage quickly began to move away, and I turned my head, fixing my gaze on a building I had never seen before. It was a courtroom; there were two guards at the entrance, so I stepped aside where no one would see me, and using wind magic, I flew to the roof.
Stepping onto the stone roof, I put my hands down and concentrated. «Earth Pulse» — I whispered and took a breath.
I felt the mana vibrations from the people that were in the courtroom. There were five mana sources: two of which were the guards standing at the entrance, and three were unfamiliar to me.
I took a deep breath in a focused manner. - «Was I late?» - I muttered to myself. Until I heard a commotion outside the hall… or rather, behind it… where the back exit and the path were located.
Could it be… - flashed through my head.
Hopefully, I made a dash to the edge of the roof on the side where the voices were coming from.
And… yes! It was Arthur, Elijah, and Jasmine.
I wasn’t late! - I thought and jumped down. And I was about to call out to them, but a better idea came to my mind…
The path that these three were walking on was surrounded by many trees. And, taking advantage of this, I quickly went around them and sat down in the bushes in front of them. Talking animatedly about something, they were approaching; I, concealing my presence and mana, waited for the right moment.
«…let your older brother take care of it» - said Arthur, putting his hand on the boy’s neck and hugging him, while Sylvie frolicked on his head, trying to catch a butterfly flying around them.
«You don’t have to say it in that tone» - Elijah grimaced.
«Anyway, you just need to bring yourself, and I’ll take care of everything else» - Arthur assured him. I could hear them clearly now, as they were three meters away from the bush where I was waiting for my victims. Although… I noticed someone else… someone who was also hiding, but without bad intentions. But I decided to ignore him.
«I’ll think about it, so let me go” - Elijah snapped, breaking free from Arthur’s grip. - “I just wasn’t going to visit…»
Now! - flashed through my head when a group of my acquaintances was in front of me.
