Harriet blinked. No one else reacted. Clearly, only she could hear it. Without hesitation, she responded internally. [Yes.]

In the next instant, everything flooded into her memories, emotions, a storyline that felt too cruel to be fiction.

Adoptive families found her too different. Children mocked her, teachers ignored her, and she grew up quiet, reserved, and isolated.

Yet, she never gave up. She studied hard, earned a scholarship, and was accepted into university. Life seemed to be taking a turn for the better.

Until Ning You found her.
