This Isn't a Dare Anymore

The hallway was quiet.

The carpet muted their footsteps. The walls glowed dim gold. Everyone had split off into their own rooms by now — couples pairing up, doors closing one by one.

Jay and Keifer’s door was at the end of the hall.

They didn’t speak.

Her hand was still in his from the moment she climbed off his lap.
His thumb brushed circles into her skin like his thoughts were too loud to say out loud.

He unlocked the door.

Let her step in first.

The lights were low.

One bed.

Flushed cheeks. Stolen glances. Air thick with everything they didn’t say back in that classroom.

Jay turned to him. “So… do you want to sleep or—”

He had her pinned to the door in seconds.

“I don’t want to sleep.”

His voice was low. Hungry. Controlled — barely.

Jay’s breath caught. “Then what do you want?”

His eyes didn’t leave hers.

“You.”

The kiss was nothing like the one from the game.

This one was honest. Desperate. Real.

His hands found her hips, her waist, her back — pulling her impossibly closer. She tugged his jacket off without thinking, fingers tangled in his shirt like she needed him to keep breathing.

Jay gasped against his lips. “I’m not drunk.”

“I know.”

“I want this.”

“I know.”

He kissed her again, slower this time.

Then carried her to the bed, laying her down like she was something sacred.

No teasing. No jokes. No control.

Just heat.

Hands exploring like they were memorizing.

Mouths moving like they couldn’t stop.

Later — tangled in sheets, skin against skin, limbs twisted like they couldn’t figure out where one ended and the other began — Jay whispered:

“Was this your plan?”

Keifer chuckled against her neck. “If it was, I would’ve died trying not to screw it up.”

She turned to face him fully.

He looked soft in the dark. Unmasked. Vulnerable in a way she didn’t know he could be.

“I love you,” she said quietly.

Keifer paused. Then cupped her face with both hands.

“I’ve been yours since before I had the right to say it.”

And then he kissed her again.
