Chapter 18 - Tangled Threads and New Mornings

Start from the beginning

Her lips curve into a sleepy smile.
The memories of last night come rushing back — his voice, his words, the way he said I love you like he meant it with every breath.

She hides her face in the pillow, blushing to herself.

He loves me… he actually said it.

Her phone buzzes beside her. She blinks, still smiling, and picks it up.
A message from him glows on the screen:

> Shubman: Good morning, Vanu🩷

Her heart instantly flutters.

She types back, smiling:

> Vanya: Good morning, Maan🩷

The moment she hits send, she blushes harder, covering her face with the blanket.
Her heart beats faster, louder — he’s mine now…

She sits up, still smiling. “I should tell Shahneel dii…” she murmurs, already reaching for her robe.
But before she can, her phone rings again — this time, the name flashing on the screen makes her grin wider.

> Vaibhav calling...

She picks up immediately.
“Good morning, chhote monster.”

“Di!” his voice is loud, full of fake outrage. “Don’t call me that!”

She laughs. “Why? It suits you perfectly.”

“Whatever! You didn’t call me last night. I was waiting!”

She rolls her eyes fondly. “Oh really? You were waiting or playing PUBG with your friends till midnight?”

Silence. Then a nervous laugh. “...Maybe both?”

She giggles. “You little liar.”

He huffs dramatically. “Di, when are you coming home? Mom made parathas today. You’re missing out.”

“Ugh, don’t remind me,” she says, clutching her stomach. “I’m stuck here eating hotel breakfast.”

They banter for a while — teasing, laughing, the kind of easy warmth that only siblings share.

Then her mother’s voice echoes faintly in the background, “Vanya beta, how’s work going?”

Vanya grins, “Perfect, Maa. Everything’s fine.”

Her father joins too, reminding her to eat on time, to rest properly, to stay away from stress.
She nods through all the advice, smiling softly.

When the call ends, she stares at her screen for a moment, heart full.
She freshens up, humming under her breath, her smile refusing to fade.

Meanwhile, two rooms away — Shubman stands in front of the mirror, towel around his neck, hair still wet from the shower.

His phone buzzes.
He picks it up — and the sight of her “Good morning, Maan🩷” message makes his lips curve instantly.

“God, she’s too cute,” he mumbles under his breath, grinning like an idiot.

He types back quickly:

> Shubman: I’m waiting for you at breakfast, come fast 😚

He’s still smiling at the screen when suddenly—

BANG.

The door bursts open.
“Good morning, lover boy!”

“Abhishek!” Shubman groans, throwing a towel at him. “Knock, idiot!”

Abhi laughs, plopping on the couch. “What’s with the grin? You look like a guy who just got his dream girl.”

Shubman pauses, scratching the back of his neck. “Well…”
