One morning I was woken up from my slumber by kisses being littered all over my face. I giggled involuntarily, purely because it tickled, and slowly went to open my eyes to look at my perpetrator and basically tell him to fuck off because I wanted to sleep.

After having been in the hospital for a full week, Vic being discharged on the sixth day and me and the two little ones on the seventh, we had finally all been home for a good two weeks. And every morning I was woken up by the baby phone. Every morning, except this one. This time, it was Vic waking me up.

I blindly shoved my hand into Vic's face, making him stop kissing me all over. When I was finally able to focus, I noticed how one of my fingers was sticking into his mouth and another one pretty much up his nose. "Charming." I muttered, then removing my hand and dropping it beside my head with a yawn.

"Time to wake up, sleeping beauty." Vic whispered as he poked my cheek.

"I am awake." I groaned softly, pulling the covers over my head. "I just don't wanna be."

"Oh come on, you know what today is." He whined excitedly.

"That's exactly why!"

Vic pulled the covers completely off me and threw them onto the ground, making me shiver from the sudden cold rush of air. "No happy birthday baby I love you you're the best boyfriend in the universe and oh the way you made me feel last night there's no one else on earth who could do that to me but you. . . No? Nothing?"

I snickered a little at his dramatic tone and then wrapped my arms around his neck. "Happy birthday, baby." I told him, a little sarcastically perhaps, before I planted my lips on his for a deep kiss.

Of course that was soon interrupted by the cries of little Tony booming through the baby phone. "Duty calls." I hummed against Vic's lips before I gently nudged him off me and climbed out of bed. "I'll get them ready to go to your parents right away."

"Alright babe, I'll go make breakfast. Just yell if you need me, okay?"

I simply nodded and made my way down the hall into the nursery. "Hello there, my little angels." I called out as I approached the two cribs. Tony was always the one to cry. Holly was the quiet one, but I assumed that was because of her IPF. Sometimes that worried me though. The fact that she hardly made a sound haunted my head constantly; in fear that I'd someday find her dead in her crib. But each moment that I didn't, I was happy.

I bent over into the crib and carefully picked up Tony, holding him closely against my chest so his little head could rest in the crook of my neck. After getting him to calm down and feeding him, I gently placed him on the changing table.

The table had high ends so there was no way he could fall off while I tended to Holly. I carefully took the breathing mask off her little face, making her wiggle in what seemed like relief. I hated having to put the god awful mask on her, but she needed it. At least definitely at night anyways. I picked her up in my arms and kissed her on top of her head. After feeding her too, I placed her next to little Tony on the changing table. "I hope you two had a good night of sleep, because it's papa's birthday today so we're going to nana's house to celebrate and you're gonna be meeting all kinds of crazy people who are probably gonna poke and kiss you all over. Yes you are." I told them in a cutesy voice while they were just lying there staring at me like I was the crazy one.

I put them both in clean diapers and dressed them into the outfits that Vivian had bought them a few days earlier. They were white bodysuits with gray stripes and said 'papa's little girl' for Holly and 'mama's big boy' for little Tony. It was pretty cute. They also both had little gray-striped matching hats to go with it.
