skippity-skip through the time machine... 🙄 (about two-ish years)

-------------------------

"Sooo, what do you two want for breakfast?" I asked, trying to make it sound exciting as Holly and Tony were sitting at the table. It was about seven in the morning and I really wasn't used to it anymore, but today was the first day that my two little ones were gonna be off to preschool, and getting up early was simply part of that. They were three and a half years old now, so old enough to go.

"I want what uncle Mike gives us when you're out with papa." Holly squeaked, pointing at the kitchen cabinet behind me.

"Yeah, me too!" Tony agreed, waving his hands in the air.

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Lucky Charms it is." I grabbed two bowls, threw a good handful of Lucky Charms into both, added milk, a spoon, and placed it in front of them with a cup of juice.

"Excited yet about going to school?"

"No." Tony grumbled, swirling his spoon around in his cereal.

"Me too." Holly agreed.

And I wasn't at all surprised at their answer. I wasn't surprised at Holly agreeing with Tony either. Those two were almost literally inseparable and so the same. They always wanted the same things, agreed on everything. . . oh how the tables will probably turn in their teens.

If Holly would even reach her teens, that was. . . but I tried not to think about that too much. I had to live in the here and now when it came to her.

"Is papa not brining us to school?" Holly eventually asked.

"No sweetie, papa had a very busy week in the studio so he's sleeping. But he promised he'd be there to pick you up after, okay? And then we're all gonna go out and get dinner together." I told them as I started to pack their little lunches.

"Why do we have to go to school?" Tony then asked.

Oh lord, here come the questions.

"Because you have to learn things for when you're older." I simply said.

"Can't you learn us, mama?"

"No Tony, I can't. Teachers know more stuff than I do. Everyone has to go to school."

"But. . . you went to school mama, you're older, you know stuff." Holly retorted.

Ugh, smartass fucking kids. I chuckled in slight frustration and rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Just eat your Lucky Charms, alright? We're leaving soon, and you're gonna like it, I know you will."

"Alright mama." They both sang before finally eating their breakfast. I rolled my eyes a little and drank the rest of my coffee. I was praying for the teacher that they wouldn't cause too much trouble. They weren't troublemakers, but still, they could get a bit. . . overwhelming together.

We arrived at the school a little early because I wanted to meet the teacher and the principal, just to go over Holly's situation with them again. I had to know for sure that they were aware of what to do in case anything ever happened. Holly and Tony's teacher was Miss Jardine. She was about my age and I could tell she got along greatly with kids. The Principal was Mr. Leto. He seemed stern at first but he was very kind and understanding. They remembered everything when it came to Holly's medication and what to do in case of emergency, and that was a real relief.

After our talk, Mr. Leto escorted us back outside so Holly and Tony could meet up with the rest of the kids. That's when I noticed a familiar face. "Andy? What are you doing here?" I called out as I walked up to him.
