"Princess! I missed you."
Alex looked at him critically, frowning a little, "Are you drunk already?"
"No, I can touch my nose, see?" he said, demonstrating for him. "Which means more alcohol is needed!"
"I think you have to close your eyes for that test."
"Or we could just drink some more?"
The man made a very compelling point.
They were all soon crowded into the living room, sitting on the floor as one of Felix's flatmates shuffled the cards and another started pouring out shots for everyone. Felix was squashed up next to Alex, leaning so far into his personal space that he was almost in his lap, but Alex had learnt that he was a friendly drunk and, as long as he wasn't going to hurl, he was okay with that.
"We're going to be playing Kings, does everyone know the rules?"
That was aimed at them and they nodded. "It's a drinking game, they all seem to focus around the same thing."
"Yeah." The guy who'd been dealing laughed, picking the first card and getting the game started with a Jack. "Okay, never have I ever had sex with a guy."
Felix grimaced, downing his shot, "Oh, shit, I'm going to be so drunk by the end of this."
Alex took pity on him, not choosing him as his mate when his card was an eight and picking Ellie instead because he didn't want Felix to get alcohol poisoning before the night had even begun. As a reward, Felix licked his face and laughed when Alex didn't catch on to what was happening—although, to be fair, Alex had never played the game when seven was tongue master—and Alex and Ellie both had to drink for his mistake. It was safe to say that, after the King's cup had been downed, and by Ellie, no less, they were all fairly buzzed.
They managed to get to the nightclub without incident, which Alex was pretty impressed by, and then they snagged themselves a booth and started ordering more drinks. Alex passed on his, sliding it over to Scotty, because his liver couldn't handle that much alcohol and he honestly would've been pretty content to stay where he was for the rest of the night. He had a ten am lecture in the morning and he'd never been good with shots in the first place, feeling like he wanted to throw up whenever he downed one. It'd been an honest effort not to while they'd been playing Kings.
"You look sick."
Alex looked up at Felix, surprised to see that the rest of the group had left for the dancefloor and he hadn't noticed. "I kind of feel it."
"Are you going to be sick?"
"Yeah, probably."
"I'll take you to the bathroom, then," he said, holding his hand so they wouldn't get separated in the throng of people. "Come on, don't hurl until I get you there."
Felix refused to let him hug the toilet bowl on the basis that it was dirty and gross. Alex agreed, because the floor of the club was covered in some sort of sticky liquid that tugged at the soles of his shoes, and he leant his forehead against the cool tile of the sink instead. He groaned weakly.
"Shouldn't you be out on the dancefloor finding someone to sleep with?" he asked, shutting his eyes and leaning into the warmth of Felix's hand on his back, stabilising him. "You know, like a cat on the prowl."
"You're hilarious."
"I try," he said, grinning despite how his stomach felt. "But, seriously, I'll be fine on my own."
"It doesn't matter if you'll be fine on your own. Bros before hoes and all that." He knocked his knee against Alex's leg. "If my friend's feeling sick, I'm going to take care of him because it'd be a really shitty thing not to."
