"And I'm supposed to be with you, boss! Who are we supposed to pair up with now?" Ronald asked.

"You two are the only ones without partners. I believe you can put the pieces together yourselves," Will hinted.

Grell crossed his arms and shrugged, "I guess it could be worse. At least he's cute." Ronald groaned. I was guessing he didn't like Grell all that much.

Will told me, "Let's go, Willow. I'm very busy today. I don't want to start trailing behind before we even start."

I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, I know, because of overtime."

He nodded, "Precisely." I frowned. I had been trying to be sarcastic, but I guess that wasn't picked up by him. Or he ignored it.

We arrived to our first victim quickly. We stood on a building across from a pub. "It seems we're a bit early," Will told me as he looked in the book. "Ralph Charlton, age twenty-seven, is supposed to be extremely intoxicated from drinking all night and stumble out of the bar, being too slow to get out of the way of a carriage going too fast to stop. He is to die at 6:26 a.m. It is currently 6:14 a.m. We have twelve minutes."

I asked, "Why was he drinking?"

"It says that he caught his wife of six years having an affair with his younger brother, Cole Charlton," he answered.

"So, he's really dying of heartbreak?" I clarified.

"Essentially, yes, it is the main cause for all of this to happen," he nodded.

I said, "But, it isn't something that will affect him forever. He's young enough. He could start a new life with someone else. Have children. He's going to die an angry, miserable, drunken mess."

Will commented, "It is not as tragic as other deaths I have seen." I sighed, knowing what he meant. He didn't have to bring it up.

I jumped off the roof into the street. Will followed me and demanded, "What do you think you are doing?"

"I'm going to let him die a hopeful, happy, drunken mess," I answered with a smile, taking a step towards the pub. He took my arm and pulled me back.

"We are not allowed to interfere with his death, Willow," he reminded me.

"I know that, but I'm not going to keep him from dying or change how he dies. He'll still stumble out of the bar and get hit. He'll just be more peaceful," I explained.

He opened his mouth to argue, but I cut him off, "Will, I used to kill people for a living. As far as I know, they did nothing wrong. My boss just wanted them dead. They all died terrified and angry and confused...

"I got my name for a couple reasons, but one of them was because when they saw me, they saw Death staring them in the face. Their hearts dropped onto the floor and broke into a million pieces. They died without hope. I don't want Ralph to die like that, or anyone else, for that matter. Now, I'm doing this, and you can't stop me."
