I laugh. "It's refreshing, really. Don't be sorry."
Anna smiles at me. "I also like your accent. Where are you from?"
"I dunno."
"What do you mean, you don't know?"
"I woke up this morning with amnesia." Wow, was it only this morning? So much has happened in such a little time.
"Woah, really? That's so surreal. How are you coping?"
Anna is the first one to ask, and she actually seems like she wants an answer. The thought of someone caring about me makes me want to cry, but I push that away.
"I'm okay." I lie.
"Are you sure? You don't sound sure. You sound unsure."
"When I woke up this mornin', I learned dragons are real and tameable. Then, a flyin' ship attacked us. Then I learned that some stupid foreign Prince is after me. Now I'm in another land, after bein' anchored down by a magical queens blizzard." I say out loud, and realize how preposterous that sounds.
"That's crazy." Anna says. "All in one day?"
"All in one day." I confirm. And I am so tired by the day's events, that I sway on the spot a little. Anna grabs me to steady me.
"Maybe you should lay down." Anna advises me.
"I can't. I don't 'ave time. This stupid prince will send an army after me if Milo doesn't return with me." I groan. Stupid foreign prince with stupid foreign armies.
"Elsa seems to like you." Anna says in a lighter tone as we reach her bedroom. "I'm really glad. For the longest time, she was cut off from the world. She never had the chance to make any friends."
"Why?"
"Our parents thought hiding her powers was the right thing to do. But they were wrong." Anna says, pulling out another green dress from her closet. "Here, try this." Anna tosses me a dress, and I slip it on. To my pleasure, it fits. I'm so glad that I don't have to wear my soaking wet dress anymore.
"Thank yah. And not just fer the dress, but for takin' us in and not attackin' us when yah saw Hiccups dragon."
"It's no big deal!" Anna blushes. "And besides, the whole idea of dragons being real is awesome. Oh look," she says, pointing out the window. "The blizzard has stopped."
It's impossible, but there are no traces of the blizzard. In fact, it's a perfect summers night outside. I can even see some fireflies.
"That's so cool!" I say.
"You should tell Elsa that. She did it." Anna says proudly. I can tell that the two sisters are very close. "Should we go and find your friends?"
I nod, and we leave the room together. As we walk, Anna starts to hum a little toon under her breath. She swings her arms from side to side, and there's a light skip in her step. I won't say it out loud, but I am envious of her. Of her happiness, not a care in the world. Of her certainty. She knows where she belongs, and I don't. But I would never wish that she was me. Anna is too innocent, too pure to get hurt.
We reach the living room, where everyone has dried off. Elsa sits demurely on the couch, fidgeting with her hands. Astrid, as usual, has a scowl on her face.
"Why are you always wearing dresses?" Astrid asks me. "It's impractical."
"I like the dresses." I tell her stoutly.
"So, while you two ladies were having girly time," Milo says, "Elsa has decided she's coming with us."
"But yer the Queen!" I protest. "Yah can't leave yer kingdom behind!"
