Breaking Free

Chapter Seven

Iwent into my room. Yea I know. I have my own room here at the Thomas residence. It is like four of my rooms at home. It had a 55-inch flat screen and every video game console out there.  

I sat on the huge California King bed and turned on the TV. Just as I was settling for “The Secret Life,” Beau came in very unannounced.  

I turned to see him with his backpack slung over his shoulder and staring at my rock hard abs.     “Well are you going to stare at me some more or are you going to tell me why you are here, in my room?” I put emphasis on the “my” part of my statement. He quickly adverted his eyes from me and blushed a bit.   I held back my laughing and waited him to explain.  

“Well, I am spending the night.” He said it like I should have known what he was talking about.   “Oh, okay. I hate to break it to you but I’m taken and you know that I am gay right?”  

He shook his head yea and walked over to my bed. As he sat down my heart sped up.   “So, why are you in my room and not Ri’s,” I asked.  

“Because, honestly, Ri’s Army brother scares the hell out of me and I don’t want to be caught in his sister’s room.” He let out a breath with his honesty. I knew that he had been shacking up with her every night this week.  

“Again why are you in my room?” I was getting annoyed with this boy. If he didn’t want to be caught, why was he even here? Why couldn’t he just go and talk to Ty? He wouldn’t kill the boy his sister was in love with.   I soon realized that he was holding something back.  

“What is the matter, dude,” I ask.  

“How come Ri never was as outgoing as the other night,” he asked. I had no idea why he was even asking me this. Obviously, he had feelings for her and they were getting close after all.  

“Because she was drunk,” It was the truth. “If you like her, which you do obviously, just tell her the truth.”  

“I know but even the day after. She seemed more out there. You know, like flirty and stuff. I sat behind her everyday in every class last year and fell in love with her drawings she doodled.” Wait what?  

 Did he just say he was in love with my Ri?  

I was lost in my thoughts while he continued. “It was like she came out of her shell and it was amazing. She is so beautiful, smart, and creative. I thing that I am going to ask her out but I don’t want her turn me down it would ruin everything.” He just kept going on and on.  

“Do you think she will say yes?” he asked.   

It was like he was trying to get the answer he wanted. The problem was I didn’t know what he wanted. All I knew was that he was Ri’s new boy toy whether they liked it or not and that he was extremely irresistible.  

Stop thinking like that Sky. I mentally smacked myself. This guy just confessed his love for your best friend and you can’t stop thinking about how soft his lips look.  

I was losing it!   “ye..e..ea” is all I stutter out.  

“Thanks man.” He slapped me on my back and walked out leaving me there staring aimlessly at the TV wondering what just happened.  

Riannon’s POV  

I walked to my room after lunch to find a very beautiful rose lying on my pillow with a small card attached. It read,  

My Ri,  

I am aimlessly in love with you and have been for a whole year. I hope that if you are reading this you will understand my feelings and how terrible I felt taking advantage of you after the party. I hope that you will forgive my utter boyishness and meet me at the park down the street at 8 pm tonight. Wear something pretty but warm please.
